West Ham has won the UEFA Europa Conference League defeating Fiorentina in the finals. The game at the Eden Arena ended in favor of the English team, 2-1, with the hero of the game being Jarrod Bowen who scored the winner in the 90th minute of the game.
The fantastic Brazilian Lucas Paqueta found a crack in Viola’s defense, sending a laser-precise pass behind the Italians and hitting Bowen, who would then beat the rival goalkeeper. Thousands of West Ham’s fans were ecstatic, with their team finally winning a piece of international silverware since 1965.
“This is fantastic. I have had a long career in football and you don’t get many moments like this, said the Hammers’ manager, David Moyes. “These sorts of moments as managers don’t come around often. This is a great moment for us.”

Moyes and the team struggled in the Premiership, even reaching the relegation battle at one point. On the other side, West Ham went unbeaten in the ECL, showing its domination in this competition.
The team from London took the lead in the 62nd minute, after Cristiano Biraghi’s handballing in the box. Even though Fiorentina’s captain didn’t have the intention to do that, the referee from Spain, Carlos del Cerro Grande showed towards the white spot. Said Benhrama took responsibility and scored.
Biraghi was hurt by West Ham’s fans early into the game after being hit to the head with an object thrown from the stands, earning a big cut that had to be stitched. This was the worst moment of the finals, and we sure do expect to see UEFA reacting to such behavior, severely punishing the English side.
Five minutes following the opening goal, Bonaventura skilfully found his way around in the box, scoring from a nearby and leveling the score. Immediately after, Fiorentina took over the control on the field, having several sold chances to flip the result completely. Two minutes before the end, they were threatening West Ham’s goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, pressuring the rival, and at the very next moment, a thunder-lightning break changed the entire situation in Prague.
Jarrod Bowen became the immortal name in West Ham, redeeming himself for last year’s failure in the Europa League semis when his team lost. The offensive forward was the happiest man on the pitch after the event.

Fiorentina’s players and staff were devastated. This was their second lost final in the past few weeks. At first, Viola failed to beat Inter in the Coppa Italia finals, despite having a lead. The final result was the same as here, 2-1 for Nerazzurri. The head coach Vincenzo Italiano had plenty of remarks on the officiating, and Cerro Grande did have some poor calls that usually went in West Ham’s favor.
This season, the Serie A had a team in each of the European finals, and so far, the record hasn’t been good for the Italians, with both Roma and Sevilla losing their contests. Just to remind you that Jose Mourinho and Il Lupi lost to Sevilla after the penalty shootout.
Inter will have a chance to improve that, with Nerazzurri playing against Manchester City in Istanbul this Saturday night. They are heavy underdogs, according to the bookmakers, but that doesn’t have to mean anything. The finals were frequently very surprising, with the better team staying on the losing end.
