Liverpool’s fantastic streak has come to an end tonight, as the Reds lost to Watford on the road with 3-0. Jurgen Klopp’s machinery finally stopped after 27 straight games in which they haven’t felt the taste of defeat. The dreams which included breaking many records disappeared, but surely, their title quest is still safe.
“You have to accept it, it’s not so easy, but it’s the proof we were not good enough tonight. It’s always very difficult. We have to accept if after.” said Jurgen Klopp following the match at Vicarage road. The German manager stated that even though many stated that Liverpool’s unbeaten stretch was coming to an end, he didn’t see that coming.
“A lot of people will say that they saw it coming. Congratulations, I didn’t.”

The European champions lost in the EPL for the first time since January 3, 2019.
The hero of the match was Ismaila Sarr, who scored two goals in the space of six minutes in the early part of the second halftime. The Senegalese forward beat Alisson in the 54th minute, after following the action in the box, and reacting fast, tapping the ball into the net before any of the rivals’ players reached him.
Just six minutes later, the same player was in the center of attention again. He received a nice cross from Troy Deeney, ran away from Van Dijk and Lovren to beat the Brazilian goalkeeper once more.
It was a stunner that stiffed the guests, who weren’t in such a position for a long time. The momentum was on Watford’s side, while L’Pool looked lost and confused.
In that situation, Alexander-Arnold made one clumsy mistake, practically handing the ball to Sarr in front of his box, and the central figure of the match assisted to Deeney, repaying him for his previous two assists.
Until the end of the game, the Reds couldn’t do anything, let alone endanger a massive lead the Hornets had. With this failure, dreams about winning the title without a single defeat crushed.

Even though they lost, the Reds are far ahead of all their opponents in the standings. For sure, winning the silverware is almost inevitable for Liverpool. All they need to do is to win four of the next ten matches.
“Our best performance by a country mile. We’ve felt unlucky at times in the past few weeks. No-one give us a prayer or a hope for this one,” said Deeney to the journalists.
The veteran striker was delighted with the way Sarr played, and issued numerous praises to his younger colleague.
“Ismaila Sarr is an unbelievable player, unbelievable talent. He still has a lot to learn, and will continue to learn.”
It wouldn’t be odd to see this 22-year old in some much bigger team next season, as he already indicated a massive talent. By the way, his birthday was four days ago.
His Watford is 17th at the moment, with the same number of points as Bournemouth, 27, the first team under the red line. West Ham is 16th, also with 27 points.
Liverpool, meanwhile, has 79 points, 22 more than the second-placed Manchester City who faces Aston Villa in the finals of the English Football League Cup, this Sunday.
Up next, the Reds are meeting Chelsea in the FA Cup’s fifth round. The match takes place at the Stamford Bridge on Wednesday. As for the Hornets, they play with Crystal Palace on Saturday, only at Selhurst Park.
