Uriah Hall posted a win in the main event of the UFC Fight Night 181, knocking out the legendary Anderson Silva.
It was arguably the biggest name in Hall’s resume, but on the other side, it was one of his toughest moments as a professional fighter, due to defeating his role model and his idol. The bout was stopped at 1:24 in the fourth round, with Hall instantly going down on his knees to apologize to Silva and to express admiration.
“I love you,” Hall told Silva. “You’re the reason why I’m doing this. You’re still one of the greatest.”

It was a tough night for the Jamaican, who, although being a veteran with 36-years, showed the emotions of a teenage kid. But that is easily understandable because he had one of the greatest ever across him. For some, THE GOAT.
Yet, Silva’s time of terrorizing the rivals inside the octagon passed long ago. He is below mediocre fighter, old, without speed and reflexes, mostly being used as a punching bag over the recent few fights. Regardless of the fact that most of his previous defeats were after decisions, Silva is not competitive in the UFC anymore.
Many saw this as his final fight in the MMA, and the Brazilian himself confirmed something like that after the match, only to deny it after everything happened.
“Today is the final day. I’m so happy to be here … I don’t know. First, I’ll go back home. … Then, let’s go see. It’s tough to say it’s my last or not. This is what I do for my entire life and with my entire heart. Let’s go see,” Silva said.
The fight started slow and without some notable situations, because both participants had a cautious approach. It was mostly one-and-done attacks, without some significant power.
As time went by, Silva and Hall began opening, but even so, there were no combinations, or attacks that might endanger the rival. It was like that until the late third, which was when Hall knocked down Silva for the first time.
The Jamaican’s strong right shook the 45-year old who was on the ground, trying to tie with Hall’s leg. Fortunately for him, the end of the round was near, and the horn prevented Hall from ending the fight. Yet, that was just temporary.
Hall picked up where he left early in the fourth, with another hard right, once again knocking off Silva, who didn’t have the defense for this situation.

Dana White spoke following the fight suggesting that the Brazilian shouldn’t fight anymore. It seems that White isn’t keen on giving another chance to Silva despite all the commercial or financial factors. Some say that he doesn’t want to ruin his legacy, while others claim that the Spider isn’t competitive. Guess they are both right.
“And look at Anderson. When the fight was over, he couldn’t even stand up to do his interview. He had to sit down and do an interview. I made a big mistake and I shouldn’t have let him fight this fight tonight,” White explained.
Hall has three in a row now, four over the past five, and awaits a high-caliber name in the next bout. The middleweight division is loaded with talent, and it is very hard to reach the title-eliminator, let alone a title fight. Hall intends to attack the title once again before retiring, and that would be interesting to see. Many names are in option, including Paulo Costa, Jack Hermansson, and some even suggest a rematch against Jared Cannonier would be the next fight for Hall.
