RB Leipzig and Manchester United will fight the death battle at Red Bull Arena in this East-German town. Whoever wins this clash goes to the next stage, and that is why the entire football world anticipates a rough and flamboyant meeting of two teams who are one step away from heaven, but on the other side, near hell as well. United has a slight edge over the Bulls, as they have a better head to head record, meaning that the Red Devils can afford to go home with a draw and still see the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League.
Preview
RB Leipzig (+150) played well against their biggest rivals, who are by the way the UCL champions, Bayern Munich, but missing a chance to stun Hansi Flick’s guys. Nagelsmann’s side got back home with one point, even though they had a 2-3 lead at Allianz Arena.
It was the third consecutive event for RB in which both teams scored, and the game ended with three or more goals, with the previous two being against Basaksehir on the road, 3-4, and Arminia at home, 2-1.
If there is one constant in the Bulls’ matches is is success at home. Since the season began, they played seven games at their Red Bull Arena, winning all of them. Furthermore, RB scored twice in each match, while keeping a clean sheet three times.
Manchester United (+165) quickly forgot the loss at Trafford against PSG, defeating West Ham on the road, 1-3. Though, Solskjaer’s team didn’t start the contest well, allowing a goal, but erasing that deficit pretty confidently as time went by.
They are better with efficiency than the Germans, with five of the previous six encounters seeing over 2.5 goals delivered by both participants.
Solskjaer’s side isn’t playing well at home, but the road’s performances are more than good, with the Red Devils coming back home victorious 8 times in nine road trips. Also, they would score three goals seven times during that stretch.
Latest News
RB has lots of troubles with injuries, with Hartmann, Henrichs, He-Chan, Klosterman, and Laimer being unavailable for Tuesday’s clash. Naglesmann will have to solve one other blow, as reliable defender Upamecano can’t appear due to his yellow card suspension.
Man Utd doesn’t have such issues, and the only two players who won’t be eligible are Fred (red card) and Phil Jones.
Head to Head Matches
United massacred Red Bull in the opening leg, packing five hits in their net, without allowing a single on the other side. Marcus Rashford netted three goals in that one, being the man of the match.
Prediction
Even though RB has all wins at home, we are backing up the Red Devils to win. They play superbly on the road, using the quickness of the attacking part of the crew. Manchester has one of the best counter-attacks in Europe, so, knowing that RB needs to be offensive and attack, we believe that Rashford, Martial, Greenwood, and the rest of the guys will have just enough space to demonstrate all of their potentials. Plus, Upamecano, the key player in Leipzig’s defense, is not available, which is an additional reason to bet on the guests.
