In our opinion, the most exciting and explosive Group C of the UEFA Champions League will be the most exciting and the most efficient in this year’s campaign. Teams like Borussia Dortmund, Besiktas, Ajax, and Sporting, guarantee nothing but constant thrill and tension because of their highly offensive and attractive style of play. We’re here to deliver a short preview of all four teams.
Ajax
The Dutch powerhouse and the four-time European champions aren’t at the level from the previous few seasons. Some of the players left, and there haven’t been equal quality in the replacements. Two of the key players are veterans, Dusan Tadic and Daley Blind, along with Steven Berghuis, who arrived from Feyenoord this year.
David Neres’ fantastic rise towards the stars slowed down in the past two years, and this might be the key season for his entire career. Either he proves his massive talent or stays just another solid player. Keep an eye on fantastic 19-year old midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, who will explode.
No need to say how Ajax plays. Offense, fast attacks down the flanks and short passes on the rival’s part of the field. Pretty much 80% of their matches end with over 2.5 goals.
Borussia Dortmund
The Millionaires are disappointing us. Instead of using this amount of talent and chase some trophies, their games in the past have been all but competitive. The players have no responsibility, the board isn’t interested in anything but earning money, and simply Borussia looks like a loose group, not a team.
Yes, we are aware that they did post some solid results, but compared to the potential this team has, that is maybe 10% of it. Haaland, Reyna, Bellingham, Zagadou, etc, all these guys will one day be the best players in their positions.
We won’t take too much of your time here. Borussia will play attractive and offensive-minded football with lots of goals, and that is the only thing we are certain of here. They have the quality for the next stage, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they fail to reach it.
Besiktas
The ruling force of Turkish football in the past several years are the black-and-whites from Vodafone Park. Even though some suggested that they might collapse due to financial problems experienced last year, that didn’t happen, and Besiktas turned out the be even stronger.
Miralem Pjanic’s arrival is a big boost for their unit, and overall, the Turks have been very active this summer, landing several solid players. Michy Batshuayi came on loan from Chelsea, Jermain Lens arrived as well, Francisco Montero. The biggest signing was Rachid Ghezzal from Leicester City, who should provide an immediate impact.
Besiktas is a very interesting team that likes to attack, no matter the result. That is why they often both score and allow goals, which is good for us bettors.
Sporting CP
Many hoped to see Cristiano Ronaldo back in his youth team, but he decided to go to England. He would be a very good mentor to all the young talents in this unit. Even though several players left this summer, the Lions managed to cover up their departures, with solid replacements.
Pablo Sarabia came from PSG on loan, while Pedro Porro and Ruben Vinagre will play as loaned players from Man City and Wolves. Joao Palinha and Pedro Goncalves are the two leaders here, both of them having enough quality to play in much stronger teams.
The young and perspective Ruben Amorim is the head coach of this team, and so far, he’s been doing a wonderful job, producing high-class players and providing superb results while doing so.
