The Bulgarian champion, Ludogorets, faces a huge task against Malmo FF on Tuesday. After losing the first leg of the UCL Champions League playoffs in Sweden with 2-0, Crazy Forest, as the fans call this club, needs a perfect performance to eliminate the rivals. That won’t be easy at all because Malmo plays tough and aggressive football, and we’ve seen that in the previous stages of the UCL qualifiers. All in all, we expect to see an open and fierce battle in Bulgaria, as hosts have nothing to lose and have to attack right from the opening moment.
Preview
Ludogorets (+125) didn’t perform as expected in Sweden, which is why they lost 2-0 against Malmo. Even though the Bulgarians controlled the ball possession, all of their attacks were without a proper closure. On the other side, Malmo was clinical when needed.
That was the sole failure of the Bulgarian champs since the start of the campaign, with them playing 11 competitive matches, winning eight times, and posting two draws as well.
When playing at home, they are perfect with six matches and all six wins, keeping clean sheets on four occasions. On the other side, Ludogorets wouldn’t score twice or more, just once, and that was way back in early July.
Malmo (+185) was confident this weekend, defeating Degerfors in the domestic championship, 3-0, notching back-to-back clean sheets following a win over Ludogorets.
In general, the Swedish champs are in one hell of a form, losing just one match in the past 12, winning eight, and adding two draws. Their season started earlier than in other European countries, which gave them a certain edge over the other opponents.
Malmo eliminated Glasgow Rangers in the previous round, even though having a player sent off in the rematch in the moments when the Gers had a 1-0 lead. The Swedes came back from behind, scoring two goals, defending the win from the first leg, securing themselves the ticket to the final round of the qualifiers.
Latest News
There isn’t any news for the absent or injured players in Ludogorets, and if some appear in the meantime, we will update our article.
On the other side, Knudsen and veteran Ola Toivonen are out for the Swedish champs.
Head to Head Games
Malmo scored goals in 26th and 61st minutes. VEljko Birmancevic, a Serbian midfielder who is in excellent form, opened the show, while Jo Inge Berget doubled the lead, setting the final score.
Ludogorets had more of the ball possession, but they couldn’t do anything against Malmo’s physical and rough backline.
Prediction
The hosts have nothing to wait for in Bulgaria, and they need to attack right from the start. Our pick here is over 2.5 goals because of the overall circumstances and the fact that Ludogorets has to chase the result. The odds on this are -110, and if you want to increase it, go with both teams to score at +110. We really don’t believe that all three goals will take place on one side. Such a scenario would be a surprise for use.
Free Pick: Over 2.5 goals -110
