Barcelona came back from the dead against Inter Milan, while Liverpool survived a nasty contest against Red Bull Salzburg. Those two news are the most important from the Champions League for this Wednesday.
Lionel Messi and his teammates were behind after the opening 45 minutes against Inter Milan. Blaugrana was shocked after just three minutes of play when Lautaro Martinez netted to give the lead to the guests. This was the first goal for Nerrazzuri at Camp Nou after more than 40 years.
Immediately, Inter started defending and building up the block in front of his goal. They wouldn’t try to take the ball high, but waited for Barca’s mistake and try to develop a counter-attack.

The home fans waited for almost one hour to see the first goal of their favorites. It was Luis Suarez who beat Handanovic, and the same player ignited the crowd at Camp Nou, five minutes before the end. Messi made a perfect assist, and the Uruguayan was clinical in front of the goal.
“We troubled a great team like Barcelona for long parts of the game,” said Antonio Conte, Inter’s coach. “Probably some of our players had less energy in the second half because we played several games in succession recently, but I’m still convinced that we deserved much more.”
Liverpool was leading 3-0 after 36 minutes of play. Mane, Robertson, and Salah cheered up the home fans with a goal each. But the feisty Austrian champions, Red Bull Salzburg didn’t want to go down without a proper fight. They decreased the result until the halftime and eventually leveled the same in the 69th minute, when a teenage sensation Erling Braut Håland struck for 3-3, shortly after he entered the game. It was his 18th goal in 11 games this season, fourth in the Champions League. He scored three in the opener against Genk.

Mo Salah once again saved the Reds, using a terrible reaction of Salzburg’s back line in the 69th minute. Although both sides had chances until the end of the match, there weren’t any more goals.
Sadio Mane was impressed with the way his rival’s played tonight, praising the guests who really did leave a superb impression.
“Wow. They were really good, honestly. I think we deserved to win, but it was a very tough game,” said the Senegalese. “I know this team – they never give up, they try to score all the time, and they caused us problems.”
In the first match of the same group, E, we saw Genk and Napoli playing without goals in Belgium. The Italians had chances in the first half, but they couldn’t breach the opponents’ defense.
Group G was very interesting tonight. After posting a win on the road, Red Bull Leipzig failed to use that momentum. The Germans suffered a painful defeat at home against Lyon 0-2 and complicated its life very much. In the second game of that assembly, Zenit was confident against Benfica, beating the Eagles 3-1 in Saint Petersburg.
Chelsea posted its first win in Group H. Frank Lampard’s guys won in France against LOSC Lille, 1-2. It was a hard-fought triumph for the Blues who erased the slip at home to Valencia from the first week. When mentioning the Spanish side, they lost the edge gained in London, as Ajax Amsterdam crushed them with 0-3.
