Todd Gurley will appear at the season opener for the Los Angeles Rams and will play without limitations. That is the latest news issued from the Rams’ base. The fantastic running back is expected to be 100% ready for the upcoming season right from the start. It means that the Carolina Panthers are going to be in serious trouble.
After signing an extension with Jared Goff, which was the news that made happy every Rams’ fan around the world, there were more positive voices from LA this Thursday. According to their head coach Sean McVay, the starting running back and one of the best offensive players in the league, Todd Gurley will be ready to play against the Carolina Panthers this Sunday.
“I’m excited to see Todd Gurley continue to do his thing,” McVay said. “He looks good, he’s feeling good, and we’re looking forward to Sunday.”
Once the reporters asked him does he have an intention to limit Gurley’s minutes, McVay responded shortly – “Nope.”

Injuries have been troubling Rams’ RB, who missed the last two games of the 2018 season. Back then, soreness of the left knee was an issue which wasn’t resolved. Despite playing in the playoffs, and performing good, Gurley struggled with that nasty injury, and couldn’t heal it properly.
After seeing him play in the offseason, nobody believed that his knee is in that bad shape. He posted 115 rushing yards against Dallas in the Divisional round and had a touchdown. After that, he had only five snaps against the Saints for 13 yards, while he contributed with 35 yards on 10 rushes against the Pats in the Super Bowl.
The moment the season ended, the Rams decided to make a special plan of rehabilitation for Gurley. His value to the team is enormous, and the Rams didn’t want to endanger the players future. Gurley didn’t participate in any of the preseasons matches the team from LA had. During the training camp, McVay didn’t want to overload him, and Gurley had an equal share of action as other two running backs, Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson.

The 25-year old was one of the essential pieces in the Rams’ puzzle last year. He played 14 games and rushed for 1,251 yards, posting 21 touchdowns, 17 by rushing and 4 by receiving, which was the league-best. LA’s offense was largely depending on him, and it is sure that Jared Goff wouldn’t be in a position to develop this fast and good without Gurley as a running back in his team.
He is a three-time Pro Bowl, who was also the NFL Rookie of the Year in 2015 and was twice the NFL rushing TD leader over the latest two seasons. In 2017, Gurley was named the NFL Offensive Player of the Year. So basically, he is the force which pushes the Rams forward.
Many were doubting his recovery at the start of this campaign, but it seems that the Rams did an outstanding job when making his rehabilitation program. They need Gurley very bad because the schedule in the opening three rounds of the NFL’s 100th season is very ruthless.
At first the Rams head for Carolina, afterward host the New Orleans Saints, and following that match travel to Ohio to face the fire-up Browns.
With Gurley on board, everything is much easier.
