The Chongqing Major is currently being disputed by some of the best Dota 2 teams in the world at BLOOMAGE Cultural and Sports Center in Chongqing. The competition is currently in its knockout phase where teams are competing in a Double Elimination, Best of Three Format.
This match is the battle between two teams, Team Secret and EHOME led by former TI champions at one of the biggest competition of the year. So, we don’t see any reason why we won’t love to give you an in-depth analysis of who will come out on top.
Team Secret
The team captained by Clement “Puppey” Ivanov arrives in good shape after playing the Chongqing Major qualifiers and finishing first. In addition, he was sub-champion of the first Major of the season in Kuala Lumpur where he lost in the grand finals against Virtus Pro, which placed the team second in the ranking with 3,000 points.
Team Secret has decent stats but is amongst some of the most unpredictable teams in the world. The team completely dominated in the competition like PVP Esports Championship and ESL One Hamburg 2018. But after that in the Maincast Autumn Brawl, they were eliminated by NaV’i.
Secret Going Strong
Team Secret has come out all guns blazing in this competition. The team performed decently in the group stage. They only lost to PSG.LGD and managed to get themselves into the winner’s bracket. Eyebrows were raised after their defeat to PSG but hey have silenced the critics after a remarkable performance less than a day ago against the former TI Champions, Team Liquid. We comprehensively analyzed the highlights of the game and it is fair to say that the team completely outplayed Liquid. Team Secret consistently put the pressure on the team not giving them a room to breathe. Team Secret might very well make it to the grand finale. They have every right to do so under the captaincy of one of the best players in the world, Puppey.
Puppey is not only a brilliant captain but also a strong player on forest heroes. More than once his sole decisions on the game and the team was criticized. In addition, Puppey is known for its skepticism about eSports organizations. He started his career in 2007 and since then he has won almost every major trophy in the world including the prestigious title, The International.
EHOME
Winning the Minor of Bucharest gave them the last place for the Chongqing Major. That is why we will see a total of four Chinese teams playing at home. EHOME seems one of the strongest team of the competition so far. The team won the Bucharest Minor to qualify to the Majors. They failed to get a spot for the Kuala Lumpur, but for the 2nd Major, they have surely come with a bang.
We are in the top 6 at the Chongqing Major after a 2-1 over @FNATIC. A showdown against @teamsecret awaits us tomorrow. Fight on!
— EHOME (@EHOMECN) January 21, 2019
The team will be aiming to put up a decent performance against one of the best Dota 2 teams in the world. In their coaching ranks, the EHOME team holds one of the best and most successful players in the world, who is surely a legend, Zhang “xiao8” Ning. The starting lineup also includes former TI champions, Zhang” y ’ ” Yiping and Zhang “Faith_bian” Ruida.
Three TI champions, one team
Zhang started his career in 2010 and throughout his career, he has played with some of the best rosters of Chinese Dota 2. In 2011, Zhang competed in the very first TI 1 with Invictus Gaming and secured a 5th-6th place finish. In 2012, he finished at 3rd placed at the TI2 with LGD Gaming. Throughout the following year he won a lot with LGD but after a disappointing run at the TI3, he made one of the best decisions of his life. He moved to Newbee and won the TI4. After winning the competition he temporarily retired. He returned to the pro scene and after a decent performance at TI5, with a 3rd place he hanged his boots for good. Therefore, having a highly decorated and experienced coach will only help the team making a big impact not only on this competition but in the entire DPC 2018-2019 season.
Two champions
Apart from the former world champion coach, the site also hosts two TI champions with y‘ and Faith_bian. Two young and promising who appeared on the pro scene only in August 2015, having entered the new lineup of Wings Gaming. The first results were very modest. Success was only in December 2015 at the World Cyber Arena 2015, where Wings took 4th place.
The real mark was made in April 2016 at ESL One Manila 2016, where Wings Gaming won a landslide victory. After that, the team received an invite to The Manila Major 2016, where they were not so successful. However, for the main tournament of the year, The International, the boys were fully armed. In many ways, a deep understanding of y’s and Faith’s strategy and the choice of heroes during the draft determined the Wings victory on TI6. Y’ was able to beat such an experienced captain as ppd, and more than once hit the opponent and the community with unusual and diverse peaks. y‘ plays support and is the current captain of the EHOME team. He is reputed to make remarkable performances on Dazzle, Bounty Hunter, and Io.
Final verdict
The EHOME side has some of the most talented players in the world and they will surely have to prove their worth against one of the favorite teams of the competition. Looking at both teams we can guarantee you that this Upper Bracket semi-final will be one of the best games of the competition. The teams are captained by the former TI champions so get yourself prepared for some remarkable action coming your way. To our understanding, we believe Secret will just barely get to the winning line. They have the players, the experience and the talent to beat one of the dark horses of the competition, EHOME.
Team Secret 2 – 1 EHOME
