Team Liquid vs Echo Fox (LCS 2019 Spring Season, Best of 1 match, MAR 23, 2019, 11:00 PM CET)
Team Liquid
Team Liquid holds an incredible 14-1 record at LCS 2019. They have been a force to be reckoned with in the entire season owing to their incredible tactics and gameplay. It goes without saying that they have ensured their ticket to the playoffs and will be eyeing for the title in a few weeks’ time. Let’s have a look at how the team has risen.
1. Objective/Vision Control
It will not be objective to say that, during his time at CLG Jake Kevin “Xmithie” Puchero was a shadow of a player compared to his formidable form at Team Liquid. He was criticized by many for his amateur style of play.
However, in recent seasons, Xmithie has improved by leaps and bounds. He is more co-operative now than ever before. Xmithie has established himself as an incredibly disciplined player who has been awarded this season with only one defeat in the fifteen games played.
The player has been vital this season in providing objective and map control to the side of Liquid, which is why the team has gotten so much success from the current meta. The meta at the moment revolves around, Elder Dragon and Baron Nashor control, as engaging them at the perfect time could be decisive, at any stage of the game. So, the team that controls them wins the game, while Xmithie and Liquid have been the best ones to secure them.
2. Team Depth
Other departments where Team Liquid shines in the depth of its lineup. In the 2018-2019 season, the team holds two former world champions in their ranks with Impact and CoreJJ. Apart from the Korean duo, they have possibly three of the best players in the competitive history of the NA LCS, Xmithie, Jensen, and the Legendary Doublelift. These players have synergized perfectly and there is no stopping them in their conquest.
No team in the NA LCS is more satisfied with its roster than Liquid, as most of them are looking to make changes to their roster in the hopes of finding the right balance. In the hopes of doing so, they are gambling with the possible talents of other regions. There is nothing wrong with that as this very concept is adopted by every other sport across the globe. However, in the months to come, or might very well in the years, we will not see another team that is more dominant than today’s Team Liquid.
These are not just some top tier players playing together, these players love to share the spotlight and won’t mind sacrificing themselves in-game to make room for the team.
3. Gaining Advantages in Lane
The last reason why Liquid is an immovable object in the 2019 split is simply their execution in outplaying the opposition in the laning phase. If we analyze all the 15 games of Team Liquid, it is easy to figure out that Liquid likes dominate from the first minute. The team respects the power of the laning phase and this is why it is the major factor why they are unstoppable. They have a couple of ways to assert their dominance in the lanes. One is making rotations as soon as they get their levels, another one is simply out last hitting the minion while consistently applying pressure to the opposition. The vision control in the first 15 minutes allows their jungler skulk to rotate freely from one lane to the other, while Xmithie does his best, to push Liquid’s advantage.
Liquid loves to capitalize on the opponent’s mistakes and take smart, calculated risks every now and then to win games. It’s this impressive playing style that is yet to be countered by any team of the LCS. Walking away from the lane phase with a deficit against Team Liquid could almost be considered a death sentence and Echo Fox is no special.
Echo Fox
Compared to the 41-1 record of Liquid, Echo Fox sit at 5-10 with just one loss away from the last place team. This stat should be enough to explain why we are not giving the foxes the slightest chance to shine against Liquid. It is quite disappointing to see a team getting completed destroyed in the 2019 Split as it received so much investment in the preseason.
The side gambled with the prospect of recruiting some players that they hoped to shine. But the players and the team have completely failed and might very well face elimination from the competition altogether.
This game is one of those games that could possibly save their season. While for Liquid it might just be another win which won’t matter. Echo will pose a tough fight but against this Liquid side, their efforts will go all in vain. Therefore, after all this argument, we believe that Liquid will get a good win despite the foxes are fighting for their lives.
