The reigning Super Bowl champions, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, outplayed the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday Night Football. The final result of this match was 28-22 for the champions, who were confident and dominant throughout the entire game.
Even though the Eagles managed to cut the deficit to six points with six minutes to go, they couldn’t get the ball back to their possession one more time until the end. Tom Brady showed why he is arguably the best QB in history when it comes to wasting time and keeping the football in the closing moments.
The Bucs had 12 plays in the last 5:54, winning 67 yards down the field. There was no way for the Eagles’ defense to reach the football. Brady was facing third-and-7 in that last attack, but he found Antonio Brown for a 27-yard pass, which practically solved the event.
“It was a great route, a hell of a throw as Tom got out of the pocket,” Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians told the media after the match. ″Couple times this year, he slipped out of the pocket to the right and made a big play down the field.”
Brady was 34-for-42 with two touchdown passes and one pick. His favorite targets were Antonio Brown, who had 93 receiving yards in nine catches, OJ Howard with 49 yards, and Leonard Fournette, who caught the football five times for 46 yards. The first two had one receiving TD pass as well.
Fournette was, as usual, the best when needed the most. In tonight’s game, the strong running back contributed with 2 touchdowns, 81 yards on 22 snaps, and numerous fakes.
Among the hosts, Jalen Hurts led the way, but mostly with his rushing. The quick RB had 115 yards through the air, 12-for-26 for one TD and pick each. Hurts was more effective on the ground, where he ran 10 times for 44 yards and two scores.
The analysts are saying that Hurts has the ball too often in his hands and that the rest of the team isn’t included in the play so often. The player himself admits that, adding that he has to be better in order for the Eagles to win.
“The ball is in my hands every play, and I enjoy that, and I like that. I have to be better. I’m not doing enough to win. I’m not doing enough to start fast. I will be better.”

Miles Sanders ran nine times for 56 yards, and the guy with the most receiving yards in Philly was Quez Watkins with 44 yards in three receptions. Zach Ertz had one TD reception and 29 yards in four catches.
The Eagles are 2-4 now, and still without a win at home. Those two victories on the road against the Falcons and the Panthers give hope that this team has enough quality to turn this season upside down.
Up next, we have the Eagles visiting the Las Vegas Raiders and, after that, the Detroit Lions. After that, Philly comes back home to host the LA Chargers.
As for the Bucs, who are 5-1, they are hosting the Chicago Bears in their next match, before hitting the road for two straight events. The first is against the division rivals, the New Orleans Saints in Louisiana. After that, Tampa Bay visits the Washington Football Team against whom they played in the NFC Wild Card round last year.
