SK Telecom T1 vs Griffin
(LCK 2019 Spring Season, Best of 3 series, March 8, 2019, 9:00 AM CET)
Griffin
Griffin is certainly a name that will be discussed a lot in 2019. The individual talent of its members and the perfection in their plays, always with perfect timings and almost without any misunderstanding make Griffin the number one team in LCK region right now.
Not only can we mention a highlight in this team, but we will put the spotlight on the entire first team: we can start with the ADC of the team, Viper and his incredible style of play, with several unusual picks including Yasuo, Teemo, Kled, and Cassiopeia. He is the most successful shooter without playing a lot on the conventional ADC champions. While his traveling companion, the support Legends is able to deliver unexpected ganks on the opponents, which always results in kills for the team in red.
Formidable team
In most games, the top laner Sword plays with safer champions like Ornn, Cho’Gath or Gnar, but it does not mean he does not have the ability to get kills with other champions. He has already demonstrated beautiful plays on Jayce and Camille. To try to describe the genius of Tarzan, it would take a whole text only for this. The young jungler entered the Korean league exhibiting exceptional plays. He reads the game to perfection, and he almost always gets the job done when it comes to making successful rotations across the map.
The clearest example of this is Game one between Griffin and Damwon Gaming in the Kespa Cup semi-finals where he always knew the position of the opposing jungler. Using the information, he executed counter ganks and eliminated his counterpart with every possible opportunity. If Chevy and Sword rotate their positions, Chevy can be a very decent and successful mid-laner on Gallio and Urgot, but if necessary, also features as a great top laner on Irelia, Aatrox, and Orianna.
Unbeatable Griffin
Owing to the incredible roster and the chemistry of the side, the Griffin team is the only team in the LCK with a 100% they have dropped only one map to the 2nd place team, SANDBOX Gaming but have never lost an entire series. This just shows how much the team has learned from their shortcomings in 2018 and apart from lifting the LCK Spring Split title, don’t be surprised if this team goes on to become the world champion in 2019. They play flawlessly and this highly talented and young team doesn’t look like that it will be losing a series any time soon.
SK Telecom T1
After a weak and predictable year of the three-time world champion, who carried out shameful campaigns in all the championships that the side participated in, SKT decided to reassemble its lineup. SKT T1 sent away all of their main players, except Effort and obviously Faker. After the announcement of signings of Khan, Teddy, Mata, and Clid it was possible to see the relief on Faker’s face, who could feel the pressure lifted from his shoulders.
Teddy has previously played for the Jin Air Green Wings, being the highlight of the team as a jungler and even after the change of roles, the young marksman continued to shine on the green team. His potential was duly acknowledged by SKT who hired him to play alongside legendary support, Mata, one who needed no introduction.
SKT putting faith in the new signings
After the team parted ways with its top laner, the organization put its faith on the new stars by recruiting the names Clid and Khan. Clid performed exceptionally well while playing at China’s JDG, being one of the key factors for the organization’s brilliant campaign at LPL. He has played well in the 2019 Spring Split but he should shine more if SK Telecom aims to reach the top spot.
Khan, however, played like a top of the King-Zone, being Korean champion in 2017 (at the time, still by the name of Longzhu), with a formidable Jayce to cause havoc against any top laner of the world. But will a full lineup of strong names be able to avenge the history of 3 world titles and bring the glory day back to SKT? Or will he just be a one-hit wonder like so many others in history?
AT the moment SKT will be satisfied with its performances. The side currently sits at third place, with a 9-3 record. The three defeats come from SANDBOX Gaming, Damwon Gaming and their upcoming opponents, Griffin.
Final Verdict
In their last meeting, Griffin completely outplayed the 3x world champions, defeating them 2-0. The form they are in we don’t see SKT getting a single map in their favor. Griffin is currently an unstoppable force and we believe the side might very well end the season with a flawless record, which should tell the world that they are your future champions of 2019.
Griffin Victory!
