This is a big game for Torino, and Lazio as well. The Bulls come to the capital city in desperate need of a win, which would pretty much secure their Serie A status. Lazio’s win would leave the Eagles some chances for reaching the UEFA Champions League, though they would be close to zero. Other than that, this is a bit derby between two big rivals, who represent their regions, and as usual, once teams from Rome and Turin meet, things often get feisty. Have no doubts, it will be the same on Tuesday.
Preview
Lazio (+100) suffered a great blow in the last round, losing to the biggest rival and the local enemy AS Roma in Derby Della Capitale, 2-0. Even though they are higher placed in the standings, Lazio was outsmarted by Il Lupi in almost every aspect of play, which is why they had to eat one pretty nasty punch in the face.
That game was the fourth in the past five the Eagles played in which we haven’t seen both teams scoring. Also, it was only the second loss at Olimpico in the latest 11 games, with the note that Lazio won all other events.
This unit plays fairly open and offensive-minded contests, and is one of the most attractive teams for watching in Serie A. But the consistency of their performances hasn’t been that great throughout the season.
Torino (+290) lost the previous two games with a combined goal-difference 1-11. At first, AC Milan humiliated the Bulls in Turin with 0-7, before another great blow, against Spezia on the road, 4-1. With a draw in Verona, this means that Torino didn’t win in three consecutive events.
If we only watch their games on the road, things are even worse. In the last 10 games, Davide Nicola’s boys posted just two wins, with five draws and three losses.
Interestingly, they would score in all but two games during that span. Their defense was the problem, however, often conceding more than twice.
Latest News
Acerbi is out due to a red card, while Caicedo and Correa have troubles with injuries. Musacchio is also injured, but he has some chances of appearing on Tuesday night.
For Torino, Vanja Marinkovic-Savic (Sergej’s brother), the goalkeeper is out. Murru is also unavailable, while Gojak sits as questionable.
Head to Head Games
The first game of the year was a wild one, ending 3-4 in Turin, with Lazio delivering two goals in the injury time. Ciro Immobile scored the first one in 90+5, and Felipe Caicedo netted the game-winner three minutes later.
Prediction
We really don’t know who is going to win here, and that is why we decided to focus on goals. Lazio’s defense is much weaker than their attack, and in recent times, the back line showed numerous weaknesses. Even in all those matches in which the Eagles won, they would often allow at least one goal. As for Torino, their defense is even worse, while on the other side, the offense is solid. Because of that our final pick here is both teams to score, with odds at -180.
