Juventus and AC Milan square off in the derby of Serie A Week 4. The two sides played in the UEFA Champions League this midweek and now continue their harsh campaign. Juve improved the atmosphere a little bit with a win over Malmo in Sweden, while AC Milan has a lot to regret following a defeat in Liverpool. Rossoneri had solid chances to leave Anfield unbeaten but eventually experienced a loss. This is one of the Italian classics, and the hype surrounding it is massive, so stay tuned in the next five minutes and read our preview.
Preview
Juventus (+110) is still without a victory in Serie A after three rounds, sitting near the relegation zone with just one point. This is one of the worst starts for the Old Lady in its rich history. However, we said that they had a breakthrough in Malmo where they defeated the hosts, 0-3, and are now coming home with a bit better morale than before.
The opening match in Serie A was against Udinese, 2-2, and after that one, Juventus lost two in a row, to Empoli at home, 0-1 and then in Naples against Napoli, 2-1. Cristiano Ronaldo’s shocking exit deeply disturbed the team, and also, several players appeared at the recent EURO and are tired.
Overall, Juve’s games are efficient this year, and just one of four didn’t see three goals.
AC Milan (+250) had a nice chance to knockout Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night, but instead of leading 1-3, they were suddenly behind the Reds. But the positive thing here is that Rossoneri showed that they could play against the best teams in the world, despite not having an equally expensive squad.
Unlike Juve, Milan is perfect in Serie A and is currently sitting atop the standings with nine points, and a goal difference of 7-1. They posted wins over Sampdoria, 0-1, Cagliari 4-1, and Lazio 2-0 in the latest derby. The current schedule is a bit tough for Stefano Pioli’s side, but that is the burden of the big teams.
This team has a solid defense and relies upon the same. You won’t see too much offense from Milan, because they simply don’t have the needed resources to play like that.
Latest News
Arthur is out for the hosts, the same as his compatriot, Kaio Jorge.
Some suggest that Zlatan Ibrahimovic won’t play for the guests, which is a big blow because the Swed scored against Lazio. However, nothing is certain for now. Rade Krunic and Bakayoko are definitely ruled out.
Head to Head Games
In 293 matches in all competitions, plus the friendly ones, Juve posted 109 wins, and AC Milan had 96, while 88 saw no winners.
Rossoneri smashed the Old Lady in the last meeting during the 2020 campaign, posting a 0-3 win at Allianz Stadium.
Prediction
In our opinion, we should see a moderate efficiency here. Milan’s attacks won’t be that active against Juve because of the Old Lady’s strong defense. Also, Pioli won’t be eager to open against the hosts because he feels that one point from this road trip would be a prize. To be honest, Juve is the favorite, but we would go with 2 or 3 goals, because it seems safer from this point of view.
Pick: Moderate efficiency, 2 or 3 goals
