Derby Della Madonnina takes place tomorrow at Giuseppe Meazza. For those who need simplification, Inter Milan and AC Milan share the pitch tomorrow in arguably the biggest Serie A game this year. For the moment, Nerazzurri holds the top spot in the Scudetto race, while on the other side, AC Milan sits third, four points behind, but with one game more. So Rossoneri needs to win and keep their title chances alive. Otherwise, their archenemies will be very close to another championship.
Preview
Inter Milan (-110) didn’t lose in the last eight contests across all competitions, winning the Italian Super Cup during that stretch. Overall, they are in excellent shape, playing their game and confidently collecting points.
Nerazzurri’s attack is excellent. Lautaro, Alexis, Dzeko, and the rest of the company scored at least twice in four of the previous five events. They are even more confident at home, not doing that only once in the last 10 meetings, and you have to agree that this achievement is impressive.
When playing at Meazza, Inter is virtually unbeatable. They posted 10 straight victories here, including two Cup matches that had to go through extra times. The last defeat at home came all the way back in mid-September when Real won in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
AC Milan (+350) slowed down following a very solid start. The reason for that is their thin roster, as Stefano Pioli doesn’t have too many players able to jump in and replace the starters. Right now, Rossoneri play in waves, producing a series of wins and then failures.
They didn’t win in the past two games, losing at home to Spezia, in a very controversial finish that saw massive mistakes of the referees and playing 0-0 against Juve in Milan. These two events are the reason for the deficit in the standings.
The thing with Rossoneri is that their defense often has blackouts. They couldn’t keep clean sheets in seven of the past nine games, which tells a lot about their overall quality in the backline. On the other side, scoring goals is not a problem for Pioli’s squad, but the attackers often fail to cover up defenses’ mistakes.
Latest News
The newcomer from Atalanta, Robin Gosens, isn’t available for this game, the same as Joaquin Correa.
Meanwhile, Ballo Toure is in Cameroon at AFCON, Simon Kjaer is injured, while Zlatan, Ante Rebic, and Fikayo Tomori stand as questionable.
Head to Head Games
We’ve seen 229 official Derby Della Madonnina matches. Inter won 84 times, AC Milan 77, while 68 games ended without winners.
The first game of the year ended with the rivals splitting one point each, 1-1. Ex-Milan player, Hakan Calhanoglu scored from the penalty against his former team, but his teammate Stefan De Vrij erased that with an own goal. Both hits were in early on, in the 11th and 17th minutes.
Prediction
In our opinion, this is a game in which we should see goals on both sides. There is no home-court advantage here, and when either Inter or AC Milan appear at Meazza/San Siro, they usually score. Therefore, both teams to score is our pick here,
Pick: Both teams to score -166
