Atalanta and Inter will square off in the second of two big Serie A derbies this Sunday. The first is Lazio vs. Juve, but this one is predicted to be far less interesting than the one at Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo. Both La Dea and Nerazzurri are coming into this contest following losses in the Champions League, with the note that Atalanta suffered a catastrophe at home against Liverpool. Inter, however, was defeated in Madrid against Real but following a big fight. This means that Sunday’s matchup is huge for both parties and that they need to win it.
Preview
Atalanta (+162) experienced a humiliation at home that hasn’t been seen in years in Bergamo. Liverpool rolled over La Dea 0-5, practically ripping the hosts into pieces. Many believed before the match started that La Dea has a chance to make a big surprise because of the Reds’ problems with defense. It turned out that even if they scored two or three goals, Liverpool would respond with double the power.
This was the third consecutive event at home in which Atalanta didn’t win, and right now, Gasperini’s side has three victories in four events.
Now, when talking about efficiency, this is one of the most entertaining teams to watch over the past decade. They have just one match in the previous nine in which they didn’t score and allow a goal, and all saw over 2.5 scores.
By the way, just one didn’t end with four or more scores.
Inter (+135) showed incredible resilience in Madrid, playing without its best player, Romelu Lukaku, and missed making a sensational comeback for an inch. They were on the verge of knocking out the hosts completely, but Real had more luck, which is why they won.
Things are not good at all for Antonio Conte, because his side has just one win over the previous seven events. Apart from that, they would record four draws and two losses.
Seven of Inter’s nine games this season were with both teams scoring, and six with over 2.5 goals.
Latest News
Caldara, Carnesecchi, De Roon and Gosens won’t play, while Sutalo remains questionable.
The biggest blow for Conte is Lukaku’s absence. The Belgian international is arguably the best striker in Europe ever since the start of 2020. He is Inter’s leader, and without him, the efficiency upfront is nowhere near as with the Belgian besides Lautaro and the boys.
Apart from Lukaku, Padeli, Sensi and Vecino are ineligible.
Head to Head Games
Now check this out, both matches last year saw under 2.5 goals. Inter was better in Bergamo 0-2, while the first led at Meaza saw a draw, 1-1.
Prediction
Atalanta is wounded, and Inter is under pressure. This is a situation where we always go with a bit lower efficiency than usual, but here, we won’t follow that rule. Atalanta has no other option but to attacks, as they aren’t a team capable of defending well. We saw that in the past. Inter will be a bit more cautious, but they too need to score in order to win. Over 3.5 goals are priced at +100 and this is our suggestion.
