One of the derbies of the upcoming round in the English Premier League is at St. Mary’s, where Newcastle hosts Liverpool. The Magpies had slipped a few times in the past few weeks, and it seems they don’t have any chances for the title. Though, Eddie Howe’s crew is still among the top four teams in the league and holds the ticket to the UEFA Champions League. On the other side, Liverpool isn’t in the title race, and as time goes by, Jurgen Klopp’s unit becomes more and more distant from the UEFA Champions League zone. Newcastle (+140) comes to this event as the favorite. The way the Magpies play that’s not strange at all because this team rarely loses and is one of the best in the Premiership. They’ve had three ties in the league in a row, which hurt their title prospects.

Though, the team from the north managed to reach the Carabao Cup finals, which is a big success, and now has a possibility to fight for the trophy, the first since 1955.

The Reds’ defense has been more than catastrophic these weeks, allowing a bunch of goals. That was especially evident on the road, where Liverpool suffered four defeats in the recent five games, allowing at least two goals in each of the defeats, 11 overall. By the way, those losses were against Brighton and Wolves, two apiece.

We can’t tell what happened to the Reds, but the fact that this team isn’t among the top five places in the EPL indicates a massive crisis inside the locker room.

Liverpool’s injury troubles are massive, and there isn’t a player who didn’t experience some this season. Right now, Arthur, Luis Diaz, Konate and Alcantara are ineligible.
