Brighton and Hove Albion leads the Premier League standings after two rounds and hosts in-form West Ham. The Seagulls have had two outstanding performances, packing eight goals combined and picking up where they left last year. Meanwhile, West Ham was very confident against Chelsea in the London Derby, beating the great rivals and creating a massive swing. Both teams have very potent attacks, and we should see plenty of goals at the Amex Stadium. Stay tuned and see WagerBop’s preview for this game, accompanied by odds and picks.
Preview
Brighton (-200) destroyed Luton in the season opener, 4-1, and after that, smashed Wolves on the road, which was something just a few expected. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Seagulls had won, but ripping apart the hosts at Molineux 1-4, is impressive.
Roberto de Zerbi didn’t change anything in Brighton’s system, and even though the team lost some important pieces, like MacAlister or Caicedo, we’ve seen the team equally dangerous as in the previous campaign.
Yes, Brighton allows goals frequently, but their attack is so good, that they don’t disturb at all when conceding. The mentality built by Graham Potter and later upgraded by de Zerbi makes the Seagulls mentally bulletproof.
West Ham (+425) had a tough game vs. Bournemouth in the first round, eventually getting one point at the Vitality Stadium. However, their 3-1 victory over West Ham was superb, especially the period when they had to play with 10 players, rebuffing the Blues’ surges.
Yes, Chelsea did have a penalty and was dangerous at the finish of the first half, but that didn’t disturb the Hammers, who rose to the occasion and went on to respond. Furthermore, they managed to score once more until the final whistle.
The team is very physical in the back, and knows to defend properly. That isn’t consistent, but we can say that the Hammers’ defense is solid. As for the attack, it is at a much higher level than the rest of the company.
Latest News
Moder is the only guy who won’t play for the Seagulls.
Aguerd is suspended for the Hammers due to his red card against Chelsea. Mavropanis injured his groin, and he won’t be ready to play.
Head to Head
Brighton didn’t lose in the past 12 games against West Ham, and their last defeat was in 2012 in the Championship. Last year, the Hammers couldn’t even score a goal in two events versus the Seagulls, losing 0-2 at home and then 4-0 in Brighton, where the hosts blew away the guests from London.
Prediction
West Ham’s attack is very good, as we stated, but Brighton’s is far more diverse, complex, and better overall. We’ve credited the Hammers’ defense in this article, yet we need to admit that Brighton’s attack will probably break it at least twice. Meanwhile, the Hammers have enough power to score here, and even though we believe in the hosts’ victory, our pick is over 2.5 goals, with the odds for that recommendation set at -200. The profit isn’t high, but we strongly believe that the risk is almost nonexistent.
Pick: Over 2.5 goals -200
