The win against the Kansas City Chiefs really inspired Seattle’s head coach Pete Carroll.
After the last night’s win over KC, 38-31, Carroll praised his whole team, but there was one guy he particularly mentioned.
“I’ve never seen Doug play better than that, I just thought he was magnificent, tough catches after thought catches.” Carroll said
Doug Baldwin finished the contest with 7 receptions and 126 yards, posting one touchdown.
In the moments when the game was on the line, the 8th season wide receiver from Gulf Breeze, Florida, made one of the most beautiful plays in this season.
Seattle had the ball and was leading 31-28, with Wilson was just suffering a sack on first-and-10, losing nine yards. The pressure was on the hosts to do something as they faced a potential loss if they handed over the possession to Kansas City. The clock was at 2:42, which meant that there is enough time for Patrick Mahomes to make a winning drive.
The Seahawks QB sent him a high pass towards the pylon, and Baldwin managed to catch it with one hand, despite being pushed and pulled by the Chiefs cornerback Charvarius Ward. The officials threw a flag because of it, but the home team declined the penalty.

Baldwin had brought them to only one yard away from the end zone. In the next play, Chris Carson carried the ball over into the end zone, practically solving this match.
Carroll reminded everybody that, prior to that play, Baldwin picked up an injury, but he still came back and did his part of the job.
“Then he gets his ankle twisted and he comes back and makes the big play after that… Just heroic stuff” Seattle’s HC praised his player.
The No.89 has 48 receptions this season for 591 yards, and 5 touchdowns. Though these stats are not that big of a deal, we need to say that Baldwin posted all of his 5 TD’s in the last 5 weeks, when his Seahawks posted four wins.
He had many problems with injuries, which started to harass him already during the training camp. His knee forced him to skip the preseason matches, and to enter the opening week wounded and not prepared 100%. It is why he missed two games after the game against Denver on an opening day.
Two weeks ago, Baldwin was out against Minnesota, which caused Wilson to have one of the poorest performances in his entire career with 72 yards collected.
Seattle’s wide receiver is still having issues with his health, but it is far less than he did before, and the results are almost instantly felt on the field.

The Seahawks are probably facing the Cowboys in the wild-card round, because Dallas clinched the NFC East division. That is if they defeat the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday at home.
But the way these two teams are playing we can say without any hesitation that the chances in that game are 50-50.
The Cowboys are having some troubles with their offensive productivity, and it appears that the peak of their form is behind them. On the other side, the situation is totally the opposite with the Seahawks. They are growing from game to game, and the youngsters in the defensive team are starting to resemble the old Seattle, the one who had the fearless mentality and a desire to annihilate every opponent who comes its way.
Wilson is always Wilson, no matter his current condition and circumstance, he will always be one of the best clutch quarterbacks in the NFL. And as we see, other pieces of the puzzle are starting to fit in perfectly, Baldwin is back, Chris Carson stepped up, etc.
Plus the Seahawks already defeated Cowboys once this season, 24-13 in Week 4.
So, don’t be surprised if these guys go deep into the postseason. We warned you.
