Paul George drew attention once again this season. Only this time it wasn’t because of his excellent performances, which are making a strong bid for the MVP award.
This is something more of negative publicity we might add.
After yesterday’s game between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Oklahoma City Thunder, in which the hosts won 118-110, PG expressed his discontent about the officials, saying that they made a lot of mistakes, which directly negatively affected his team.
“It’s just bad officiating,” George said, “I’m sorry, just bad officiating.”

According to one of the best players in the league at the moment it seems that the officials are not acknowledging the Thunder and that his team constantly suffers the consequences of bad decisions made by them.
“We haven’t gotten a fair whistle all year. It is what it is. Somebody’s got to look into this. It’s getting out of hand, where we somehow just walk teams to the line.”
Now, if we examine the statistics and look up for fouls column, it seems that George was right. OKC is the third highest team when it comes to fouls called against 22.8 being the fourth in the league. But if we analyze the number of fouls on them, which is also 22.8, it might be a bit odd, because OKC is third in that category.
These many fouls are a consequence of high-paced basketball, this team plays no doubt about it, but what about the criteria of the officials, is that true or false?
For George, there is no doubt, and he claims that the best example is his teammate Russel Westbrook, who is the guy who endures the most contacts in the league and is continuously under the harsh and aggressive defense of all the opponents.
“And there’s nobody that gets more contact. If I don’t speak for myself, I speak for Russ. There’s nobody that gets more contact than Russ going to the basket.” George extremely upset after last night’s game said.
The reason for all this is the fact that both he and Westbrook along with Steven Adams fouled out against the Clippers.
Though, when you check out the history, PG has a point from some angle of view. What happened to OKC, was recorded only the the second time in the past decade, and that is for the three starters to foul out.
Still, most of the fans and the experts were calling out the five-time All-Star, saying that his comments are not fair, especially after a foul not called upon him for hitting Jusuf Nurkic with the elbow in the face.
However, the OKC was considered to be damaged with the last foul on Al-Faruq Aminu with 2.8 seconds until the end, because according to many, it was a compensation for that hit in the face.

There is also one more thing. OKC had 26 free throws, while LAC had 46.
George is also perfectly aware that the league will waste no time on fining him because of his words, but he doesn’t care about that. He’s been fined before, multiple times, because of the same reason, and no doubt will be again.
“I’m going to lose money on this. We speak up, we lose money. There’s nothing I can do to change that. It is what it is. There’s got to be a change, but there’s nothing I can do.”
He said that he carries this burden throughout his whole career and that he wants nothing else but to have a fair treatment. What also annoys him is the fact that there isn’t a penalty for the refs when they don’t do their part of the work right, but when someone points on that, he receives a fine.
So far, George paid more than $100,000 for criticizing or arguing with the referees and their decisions.
