The North London Derby is always intense, and the current circumstances guarantee that Sunday’s event between Tottenham and Arsenal will be a blast. The Gunners are topping the standings with five points more than Man City, who is chasing Mikel Arteta’s crew. On the other side, Tottenham oscillates and isn’t where Conte and the management planned before the campaign began. Plus, Tottenham has a game more than most of its top-four place rivals. London will be on fire this Sunday, so get ready for a super derby.
Manchester Derby between United and City is also on the menu, and here is a preview for that spectacle.
Preview
Tottenham (+225) sits fifth in the standings, with 33 points in 18 games, two fewer than United and Newcastle. Though, unlike these teams, who are playing much better than the Spurs, Conte’s unit struggles a lot right now. They don’t have the needed strength in the back line, making all sorts of errors.
The Spurs had five wins, two draws, and three losses in the previous 10 games. Since the World Cup pause, we’ve seen this team having one draw, one loss, and now two wins in the most recent two events. After trashing Crystal Palace 0-4, they beat Portsmouth in the FA Cup 1-0.
Kane and the boys up front are more or less good, but they can’t always cover the mess created in the back line.
Arsenal (+110) comes off a goalless draw against Newcastle, where they lost a two-point increase of their edge over City earned when Citizens played 1-1 at home against Everton. But then again, it was against Newcastle, one of the best teams in the EPL this year.
Previously, we’ve seen the Gunners beat West Ham 3-1, and Brighton 2-4. Despite all the fears over their efficiency following Gabriel Jesus’ injury, Arsenal keeps a very high pace. The defense looks a bit shaky, but the offense is very sharp, and it appears that Arteta sacrificed some of the strength in the back line in order to compensate for Jesus’ absence ahead.
The Gunners have three wins in away games, beating Chelsea, Wolves, and Brighton. Most of their contests on the road are inefficient, with under 2.5 goals, and also, the majority is with just one side netting.
Latest News
Richarlison is out for the hosts and will remain sidelined for at least a few days. Kulusevski and Betancur are doubtful and will be a game-time decision.
Reiss Nelson and Jesus are definitely out, the same as Emile Smith-Rowe.
Head to Head Games
There have been 192 games between Arsenal and Tottenham so far, and Arsenal holds the bragging rights over their rivals, having 80 wins, while Tottenham has 61. Exactly 51 events ended without a winner.
The first meeting this year ended with Arsenal’s win at the Emirates, 3-1. However, the previous four events in front of Tottenham’s fans saw the Spurs winning.
Prediction
This is going to be one hell of a game to watch, because both teams struggle with defense and have a much better attack than the back line. Because of all this, we think both teams scoring would be the best pick for this event. The odds on that are -166, and we are after it.
Pick: Both teams scoring -166
