NHL games have very little scoring compared to other major sports. You are probably thinking, “DUH! Why does this matter?”. It matters because NHL outcomes are inherently more random than those of basketball or football.
In the old days, this meant that hockey bettors who had an intuitive gut-feeling for games and a deep knowledge of the league could do pretty well for themselves. Then the oddsmakers started using computer-generated statistical models and that edge was erased.
So how do we combat that? With statistical analysis and data-based systems of our own, of course. That sounds hard, right? It does not have to be. Here at WagerBop, we have done the dirty the work, creating several valuable NHL systems that have been proven to consistently profit over time.
Here’s the kicker: we will share them FOR FREE! That’s right! Simply create a free membership on WagerBop and you will gain access to all of our valuable systems.
WagerBop’s Systems
WagerBop has derived 6 betting systems for the NHL over the years. Each system has historical data dating back to the 2005-2006 season. These systems have been making money since Joe Thornton won his Hart Trophy!
Over the past 13 years, our systems have placed 2,595 bets, or just under 200 bets per season. That equates to 1 or 2 bets every single night. Other systems are boring and force you to go weeks in between bets. You can always get in on the action with WagerBop’s systems!
Historical Records
If you want a reason to get excited, take a look at this breakdown of each system’s performance dating back to the 2005-06 season:
System | W | L | Profit | ROI |
NHL System #1 | 426 | 234 | $9,208 | 13.95% |
NHL System #2 | 188 | 124 | $3,448 | 11.05% |
NHL System #3 | 389 | 622 | $15,069 | 14.91% |
NHL System #4 | 58 | 51 | $3,902 | 35.80% |
NHL System #5 | 34 | 15 | $1,435 | 29.29% |
NHL System #6 | 57 | 67 | $2,310 | 18.63% |
These 6 systems have generated an average of 14.59% return on investment per bet and won $37,859 for those who bet $100 per game. A 14.59% ROI on anything is basically a license to print money!
You know those models that the oddsmakers use? Well they are not static, they are constantly being updated. The question must be asked: are these systems still turning profit or have they been eradicated due to the bookies’ adjustments? To answer that question, let’s also look at the yearly breakdown of these betting systems:

2013-14 | 93 | 96 | $1,884 | 9.97% |
2012-13 | 73 | 84 | $2,073 | 13.20% |

2005-06 | 119 | 117 | $1,152 | 4.88% |
There is nothing to dislike here. These systems have not lost since we began following them! Makes you want to see them, right? As an incentive, we will now reveal ONE of these winning NHL strategies!
Favorites Visiting with Rest
Criteria for this strategy:
- Game is during the regular season
- The visiting team is the favorite
- The visiting team has had 3 or 4 days off since their previous game
- The home did not make the playoffs last year
- Bet the visiting team money line
Why This Strategy Works (Applying Intuition):
There are a couple of things to like about this strategy. The first is the fact we are backing the visiting favorite. You can get softer lines betting favorites on the road because the home-ice advantage will supposedly make it harder to secure the win. When you do not have to lay as much on the moneyline, you stand to increase profits.
The key to this strategy is catching the favorite well-rested. Good teams benefit from rest more than weak teams because it is their best attack against yours. If a good team is weakened with fatigue or injuries, they can be beat. If they are at full strength, they will need to beat themselves.
How This Strategy has Performed Historically:
Year | Record | ROI | Profit |
2017-18 | 32-14 | 23.43% | $1,078 |
2016-17 | 30-23 | -0.40% | -$23 |
2015-16 | 35-15 | 22.90% | $1,147 |
2014-15 | 36-13 | 24.50% | $1,201 |
2013-14 | 42-18 | 22.70% | $1,360 |
2012-13 | 15-12 | -1.20% | -$32 |
2011-12 | 39-21 | 15.60% | $933 |
2010-11 | 37-21 | 12.10% | $701 |
2009-10 | 21-23 | -15.50% | -$683 |
2008-09 | 42-19 | 18.70% | $1,140 |
2007-08 | 29-18 | 9.20% | $434 |
2006-07 | 45-18 | 21.90% | $1,380 |
2005-06 | 55-33 | 6.50% | $572 |
Other than a couple of small hiccups, this system has made bettors very wealthy over the past 13 seasons. I definitely would not want to bet against this strategy.
