The Golden State Warriors start a three-game journey in Boston against the Celtics. Both sides are looking good with several wins in a row, and aim to continue in the same manner. The Warriors have Steph Curry, who is wild over the past few games, showing his best and reminding us what privilege we have to watch one of the best ever shooters (and players) in person. On the other side, the Cs started heating up, with their young duo Tatum-Brown holding everything in their hands. These two guys have been the leaders of this team ever since coming to the league, not Hayward, not Kyrie, not Kemba, or some other expensive mistake the Cs’ management made in the past (and the present).
Preview
Golden State Warriors (28-28, +135) have four wins in a row, five in the past six games. Some of them have been against top teams, like the Milwaukee Bucks or the Denver Nuggets. The main reason for this is Steph Curry, who recently shifted into a higher gear and scores 38.2 points over the last ten games with 54.5% shooting from the field. Plus adds 6.3 boards and 4.7 assists.
The Dub Nation won the last two events on the road, against the OKC Thunder, 147-109, and the Cavaliers, 119-101. These two sides aren’t some respectful opponents, but GSW collected valuable wins that will undoubtedly cause a massive boost of morale in the locker room.
Steph dropped “just” 33 points, while Andrew Wiggins delivered 23. The former No.1 pick grabbed 6 boards and had 6 assists as well, which is unusual for this guy. Juan Toscano-Anderson dropped 20 off the bench, missing just one shot from the field.
Boston Celtics (30-26, -160) won the latest five contests and seven in eight, which is a bit better than the Warriors. Similar to their next rivals, the Cs’ most recent triumphs were on the road, three of them in Denver, Portland, and against the Lakers at Staples.
After demolishing the Nuggets 105-87, and surviving a late scare against the Trail Blazers, 116-115, Boston had a routine job against the Lakers, 121-113, in a match that saw Jaylen Brown netting 40 buckets and having one of the best nights of any Celtics’ player in history.
The athletic guard/forward shot 17-for-20 from the field, hitting 13 of the first 14 buckets. Payton Pritchard added 15 points, Tatum and Thompson had 14, while Marcus Smart had 15.
Head to Head Games
The first game of the year took place at Chase Center, with the Cs winning the same 111-107. The guests from Massachusetts managed to defend themselves in the final moments of the match and grab a win. Tatum had a team-high 27 points, Kemba 19, and Brown 18. Curry demolished the rivals’ defense with 38 points, 11 boards, and 8 assists. However, he didn’t have proper support.
Prediction
Boston is the favorite, and we expect them to win this match. To be straight with you, the odds on their win are perfectly fine, and we would suggest taking the same, and not chasing any spreads or something like that. The hosts are a much more versatile unit, especially in the attack, with a deeper roster and
that is why we back them to get the W in this contest.
