The fired-up Brooklyn Nets are after their tenth win, and they want to beat the Atlanta Hawks in Georgia in order to do so. Kevin Durant and the boys finally look like a team worthy of every respect, so we just might see them back in title talks following a disastrous previous year. The Hawks are trying to gain some consistency, often oscillating and posting mixed results. They played last night, lost the game, and had to travel back from Indiana to Georgia. Not too big of a trip, but still, it did affect their energy bar.
Preview
Brooklyn Nets (22-12, -205) are the hottest team in the NBA, with nine consecutive victories. In the last ten events, the Nets average 121 points and have a 53.8% of shooting. We must say that Kyrie Irving started behaving properly, and results immediately appeared.
He isn’t about scoring and boosting the stats as in the past, and even though Uncle Drew’s average in the most recent 10 events decreased to 20.5 buckets, the Nets are playing far better. In a 125-117 victory over the Cavs, Irving scored seven threes and 32 points, yet he was quite rational, 11-for-19 from the field.
Kevin Durant had 32 points too, 10-for-18, with nine boards and five assists. and TJ Warren got off the bench to become an x-factor, with 23 buckets and eight rebounds. The Nets made 18 threes in 30 attempts.
The Atlanta Hawks (17-17, +175) lost in Indiana last night. They had a lead in the opening few minutes of the event, but as soon as the Pacers took over the wheel, there was no turning back for Trae and the crew. Right now, the Hawks have subsequent wins and losses in the past four events.
The game in Indianapolis ended 129-114 for the hosts, who shot 51.1% from the field and had 29 fast break points compared to Atlanta’s nine. This is an interesting situation because we used to see the Hawks playing well in transition, often stealing the possessions and having quick breaks.
John Collins did his part of the job properly, with 26 points and 10 boards, 11-for-17, and Trae had 22 points and 10 assists but made only five of his 15 shots. Bogdan Bogdanovic was a starter contributing with 18 points.
Head to Head Games
This is the second clash between the Nets and the Hawks in the 2022/23 campaign. The first was less than three weeks ago, in Brooklyn, and the hosts narrowly won, 120-116. Durant had 34 points, while Kyrie scored one fewer with 11 boards. On the other side, Trae had 33 and nine dimes, while Bogi added 31 off the bench, with seven threes in nine attempts.
Prediction
The Nets are healthier and have more energy than the Hawks, who played on the road last night, losing that one, by the way. We will back up the guests to win, because of this and current form, which is excellent. We haven’t seen them this good in a long time, therefore, we believe that the Nets should triumph in Georgia. The odds are satisfying too given the circumstances and currently sit at -205.
Pick: Brooklyn Nets -205
