The Las Vegas Raiders look to keep their record perfect as they visit the LA Chargers on Monday Night Football. The two divisional rivals are currently in the mix for the playoffs, and we are more than sure that they would love to stay in the same position until the end of the campaign. Both the Raiders and the Chargers posted outstanding performances in these three weeks, and for many, their respective records are better than expected.
Preview
Las Vegas Raiders (+145) come in this one as underdogs, despite having a perfect record so far. Jon Gruden’s side has three wins, two of them after overtimes, both at home. The first was in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens, 33-27, and the second this Sunday against the Dolphins, 31-28.
In the meantime, the Raiders jumped to Heinz Field to defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers, 26-17. All of their victories came against the direct AFC conference rivals, which is great for the franchise from Nevada.
The man in the middle is Derek Carr, who currently has 1203 passing yards. Gruden allowed him to express his gunslinging touch and made a playbook that perfectly suits the 30-year old QB. At the moment, the Raiders have four players with 200+ receiving yards in the team and six different players with a touchdown catch. Oh, yes, and they played without Josh Jacobs in the past two games. The young RB will be a game-time decision.
LA Chargers (-170) beat the Kansas City Chiefs last week, 30-24, in Kansas City. They endured Patrick Mahomes’ pressure, intercepting his pass in the vital moments and earning the victory with a late touchdown. What we have to say here, is that Justin Herbert had four touchdown passes without a single mistake.
After opening the season a bit slower, combining two TD passes and three picks in the first two games, he stepped up against the top favorites for the Super Bowl title.
Mike Williams caught seven passes for 122 yards and two scores, and so far this year, the WR has four touchdowns. He and Keenan Allen are the main targets in the offense. Austin Ekeler has 166 yards on the ground but 113 more through the air. We just need to mention DT, Christian Covington, who has two interceptions this year.
Raiders vs. Chargers Head to Head
The score during the previous year was 1-1. At first, the Raiders defeated the Chargers on the road, 31-26, which was their third in a row over this rival. After that, the LAC responded, triumphing at the Allegiant Stadium, 30-27, after overtime.
Prediction
The Raiders and the Chargers are two very talented teams on the offensive end of the field. Even though the hosts didn’t post numbers as their upcoming opponents, they are very dangerous and know to score, as we saw against the Chiefs. At the moment, the oddsmakers have set the line for the total number of points at 51.5. Over is our choice, because of all the above-mentioned. The odds are -110. We wouldn’t touch anything regarding the final outcome because this event could easily go either way.
Pick: Over 51.5 points
