St. Louis City leads the way in the West, and this Saturday, they host the worst team in the conference, the Colorado Rapids. The expansion team from St. Louis is one of the hottest things in US sports because nobody expected them to be this good already in the first season. They stunned the public with excellent performances but are now closely monitored, as many expect to see them slowing down. The Rapids are in a completely different position, posting disappointing performances and playing beneath every decent level.
Preview
St. Louis City (-115) had a crisis that saw them failing to win four in a row, losing three times during that span, and having one tie. That negative streak was interrupted last weekend with a win over San Jose Earthquakes on the road, 1-2, and City was again on the right path.
This team doesn’t have too many superstars, and the most notable name is the former Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki. However, the head coach Bradley Carnell has plenty of players from the German Bundesliga, which determines the mentality of the unit.
Since the year began, St. Louis has used the home-court edge pretty well, having seven victories, three losses and one tie. The efficiency of those games is high, and six of the past seven games at their Citypark ground had three or even more goals. In all the wins, St. Louis netted at least twice.
Colorado Rapids (+270) are dead last in the West, with 14 points in 19 games, and the lowest number of wins of all the teams in the conference, only two. For the moment, their goal difference is 14-27, and they officially have the worst attack in the West.
The Rapids are without a victory for the last nine games, having only two ties and seven defeats here. They couldn’t score in the past three events; five of the previous seven, and that reflects our data about them being the worst offense in the conference.
They had a decent record on the road until the last three events, in which they lost all, allowing at least two goals in each. What is noticeable is that Rapids’ events away from home are extremely efficient and that four of the latest five involved at least four goals.

Prediction
St. Louis is the favorite, and the odds on their win are at -115, which is something we simply have to try here. They are the leading team in the conference, and despite all the recent shaky performances, the only logical pick here would be their victory. The Rapids are last in the standings, and we can’t go against that.
Pick: St. Louis wins -115
