In a match between the first and the last-placed team in MLS’s Eastern Conference, Inter Miami and New England Revolution meet in Fort Lauderdale. We are more than sure that Inter’s fans (and the owner David Beckham) didn’t expect such poor results this season. On the other side, the Revs are doing great, above the projections maybe, as they sit atop the East and look very confident. Bruce Arena did a perfect job so far, and New England’s fans are now wondering is it possible to see another champion from Foxborough.
Preview
Inter Miami (+190) has five consecutive losses at the moment, with just one scored a goal during that time. It is astonishing to see that because they have one of the biggest superstars in the league, a striker from Argentina, Gonzalo Higuain. But apparently, the former Chelsea, Juventus, Inter, Milan, and Real Madrid player is not getting too much time on the field thanks to his head coach, Phil Neville. The reasons for that are unknown.
Anyway, Inter is incredibly bad at home, collecting just one point on their turf in five appearances, which was during early May, against Atlanta United, 1-1.
They will now have to use the fact that the upcoming three events all take place at Fort Lauderdale, and that is imperative to get at least four points to move away from the bottom of the standings.
New England Revolution (+125) won for the first time since June 24, and the match against the Red Bulls. After that, Arena’s side lost twice and played one draw, and all of their events during that span were efficient. However, the most recent win in Atlanta was minimal, 0-1, with Gustavo Bou hitting the back of Five Stripes’ net.
Until that match, the Revs played five straight with both teams netting and with at least three goals. Only one didn’t see four or more, which was pretty impressive because the overall efficiency in the MLS this year significantly dropped compared to the previous campaigns.
New England’s record on the road is more or less neutral, with three wins, three draws, and two losses. However, they lost only once in the past five games, posting three victories and one draw as well.
Latest News
Kelvin Leerdam is with Suriname at the Gold Cup, and he won’t be starting in the defensive line for Inter. Defensive midfielder Gregore is suspended.
For the Revs, Canadian striker Tajon Buchanan is with his national team also at the Gold Cup, the same as goalkeeper Matt Turner who plays for the USA. DeJuan Jones is doubtful due to an injury.
Head to Head Games
This is the first game between these two sides.
Prediction
The Revs are looking much better, and they should win this match. With all the problems in Inter’s game, we simply can’t suggest anything else but to bet on the guest’s plain win. The odds on that are currently +125, and that is more than we expected. After all, they hold first place in the conference before this event, so a victory here is pretty realistic.
