Inter Miami is experiencing a terrible period, and a win over Montreal would be a perfect way out. Though, the team from Canada slowed down in a recent couple of weeks, meaning that they too enter this clash with certain pressure. The hosts are dead last in the Eastern Conference, while Montreal currently occupies the last playoff spot in the same assembly, but with DC United and New York Red Bulls breathing down their necks. The game takes place at DRV PNK Stadium in Miami and starts this Saturday at 8 pm ET.
Preview
Inter Miami (+110) is a favorite here, despite being awful in recent times. Phil Neville still has full support from his former teammate, David Beckham, who is in charge in Miami. Over the last 10 events, the team from Florida has just one win, with two draws and seven defeats, six of them straight before the latest draw vs. Philadelphia Union, 1-1.
Neville has problems in attack, with his strikers delivering just two goals in the last seven matches, which is appalling, having in mind that Gonzalo Higuain wears Inter’s uniform.
Though the Argentinian star has five goals, and besides him, just three more players put their names on the scoresheet, adding one hit each. So Beckham would need to add more quality players in the recent future if he wants to see Inter moving up on the standings and becoming competitive.
Montreal (+210) had three wins in a row and didn’t lose six straight before posting back-to-back defeats on the road in the last two weeks. The first failure came in New York, against City, 1-0, and after that, against New England, 2-1.
Now, those defeats were close calls, and Montreal could have avoided at least one of them. Wilfried Nancy‘s side has been playing well overall, and we can’t say that any team outplayed Montreal over the last two months.
The Canadiens are playing tough matches away from home, with four of the past five ending with under 2.5 goals, and three during that span with just one side netting.
Latest News
Ian Fray and Jones Joevin won’t appear for the home team due to respective injuries.
On the other side, Clement Diop has thigh issues, and Ballou Tabla can’t play due to a groin injury.
Head to Head Games
Some three weeks ago, these two sides played in Canada, and the hosts posted a 1-0 victory, with the only scorer being the 22-year old Mathieu Choiniere. Prior to this clash, Inter and Miami met midway through May, and the Canadians won, only this time in Miami, 1-2. Overall, there are three H2H games so far, and Montreal recorded all three triumphs.
Prediction
When looking at Montreal’s games on the road, crossroad that with the current problems Inter has with scoring, the conclusion here is that we shouldn’t expect too many goals in this match. Moderate efficiency, 2 or 3 scores, should be the best possible choice here, and the odds on this pick are +100, which is perfectly satisfying from our point of view.
Pick: 2 or 3 goals +100
