MLS: FC Dallas vs. New York City FC Preview, Odds, Prediction

Both FC Dallas and New York City FC are in the upper part of their respective conferences, but they aren’t playing some magnificent football lately. On one side, Dallas didn’t win a single of its last five MLS games. On the other end, NYCFC has one victory, and that was last weekend. For the moment, NYCFC is in a better position when talking about the playoff picture, which can’t be said for Dallas. The hosts need three points; otherwise, things might become messy in the upcoming few rounds.

FC Dallas (+140) is in terrible shape with one win in the last eight events. This negative streak significantly deteriorated their position in the West, and they are now only a few points away from slipping out of the playoff zone. The especially problematic thing is that they didn’t win at their Toyota Stadium in Frisco in the last three appearances. 

This is a very entertaining team to watch because it scores and allows lots of goals. For instance, only two of their previous ten events have ended without three or more hits. On the other side, just one in the last 10 games didn’t see both teams netting. 

Overall, Dallas has problems with defense, but on the other side, their attack is solid, only it can’t cover up for all the mistakes in the back line over the last few weeks. 

NYCFC (+175) is in serious trouble since Rony Deila left for Belgium. Their interim manager, Nick Cushing, won the first game as the leader of the champions this weekend. The Citizens were better than New England Revolution at home, 4-2. He needed more than three weeks to feel the taste of victory. 

The champs have massive problems in defense, and they conceded two or more goals in the previous five events, which is stunning, knowing that this unit relied upon harsh defense and that it was the recipe for winning the MLS Cup title last season. 

The past four NYCFC events have ended with three or more goals and five in the last six, with both teams netting. We do need to say that over the past three events, we’ve seen 18 goals combined.

Dallas is all about goals, whether they score or concede, and on the other side, since Cushing sat on the bench, City is in the same mode. We believe that the best possible pick for this event would be for both teams to score, because of the disastrous shapes of the respective defenses.
