With Patrick Mahomes back in the saddle, the Kansas City Chiefs have easily routed the Las Vegas Raiders, 41-14 on Sunday Night Football.
The two division rivals clashed in what was supposed to be the most interesting event of the entire round, but it turned out to be one-sided domination. Mahomes was fired up, and he never allowed the hosts to have the slightest chances of making this a close call.
KC started strong, and even though the Raiders fought well, not falling behind too much, they simply couldn’t match the Chiefs’ intensity in the second half. Once the AFC champions shifted into a higher gear, there was no turning back for them, and the Raiders were left in the dust.
“We’ve done it before,” Mahomes said. “We’ve done it these last few seasons we were doing at the beginning of this season. We were moving the ball and making a lot of stuff happen.”
The former MVP had five touchdown passes, playing by far his best game of the year so far. Mahomes completed 35 of his 50 passes, for 406 yards and five touchdowns, without committing the slightest mistake.
All of his three top targets were in the mood for playing high-class football. Travis Kelce caught 119 yards, Darrel Williams had 101 yards for one TD, Tyreek Hill 83 for two scores, and Byron Pringle 46 for one. The Chiefs did not need much work on the ground, but they managed to record 94 rushing yards anyway.
On the other side, the Raiders had just 50 running yards, Derek Carr having 18, while Josh Jacobs and Kenyan Drake posted 16 each, which is miserable. Carr ended the night with 262 yards, two touchdowns, and one pick but was far from his usual standards. It appears that the Chiefs’ defense red him well, and also took away the Raiders’ ground game which forced Carr to be one-dimensional and easy for defending.
Bryan Edwards and Hunter Renfrow had a touchdown each, and that was pretty much all from the pale Las Vegas who was hoping to win here and move up in the AFC West rankings.

Carr told after the match that his team played pretty bud and that the reason for that was KC’s excellent performance.
“We got in a hole, and against this team that’s hard,” Carr said. “They just play soft coverage. They get a big lead, play soft coverage, blitz here and there, and make you throw in front. It’s a hard way to do it.”
The Chiefs are now 6-4, while the Raiders have a game in hand and are 5-4. The division is very interesting, with all the teams in the hunt for the title. The Chiefs are topping the group, the Raiders and the Chargers are 5-4, while the Broncos have five wins and losses each.
Kansas City has three straight games at home, with the first one being a big clash with the Dallas Cowboys. After that, Mahomes and the crew are hosting the Broncos and the Raiders at the Arrowhead Stadium.
The Raiders host, the Cinncinati Bengals, then travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys before returning home to play against the Washington Football Team. They are looking unstable right now, with two losses in a row, and the upcoming period will show us whether they have the power and capability to fight off the adversity and problems.
