The LA Lakers posted their first win of the season, beating Utah Jazz at Staples Center, 95-86. Led by the fantastic LeBron James, who was superb, the purple and gold were setting the tone throughout the entire match. Lakers looked confident and pretty powerful, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
Except for the first part of the opening period and the start of the second half, the Jazz couldn’t compete with the home team. Even though the LAL didn’t have good stats when it comes to shooting their 11 offensive rebounds did make a difference in the end, and that might be one of the critical factors for the victory. On the other side, the guests had only 3.

The Lakers had a 10-0 run at the midpoint of the first, with Anthony Davis scoring 8 points during that interval. The Eyebrow is still not in his usual rhythm and has flashes from time to time. However, he does contribute a lot defensively, and tonight, AD had five blocked shots and was controlling the paint pretty well.
Hosts would reach a double-digit lead in those moments and keep it throughout the second period. But they couldn’t score for almost five minutes, which brought back the Jazz to only four buckets away, and the game became a lot more intense. Donovan Mitchell’s layup set the result at 36-35 for the home team, who somehow managed to leave for the break with a six-point distance.
The Jazzers would tie the game at 43 each at the start of the second, but LeBron and the company responded with 9 straight points. From that moment on, their lead would only grow bigger and bigger. The highest difference was 22 points in Lakers’ favor. As the end approached, Frank Vogel on one and Quin Snyder, on the other side, replaced the starters and key players and gave a chance to the guys who aren’t projected to spend too much time on the court.
LeBron was the best player on the court with 32 points, shooting 12 of 22 from the field, and assisting 10 times. LBJ would grab 7 rebounds also, and miss just one of his 8 free throw attempts. Davis had 21 buckets and 7 boards, while Troy Daniels stepped up off the bench with 15 points. The 28-year old guard hit 4 downtown shots.

On the other side, the Jazzers were playing without Bojan Bogdanovic, who was injured. It proved to be a big handicap because the former Pacers’ would contribute a lot to their offense, which struggled against the Lakers.
Mitchell posted 24 buckets, with 5 boards, Mike Conley had 13, but shot 3 for 11 from the field, and Emmanuel Mudiay scored 12. Back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year, Rudy Gobert had 8 points and 9 boards.
Up next, we have the Lakers going to visit the Charlotte Hornets this Sunday. Meanwhile, the Jazzers are hosting the Sacramento Kings, whose season didn’t start as planned.
