LaVar Ball once again wanted to be in the middle of attention. After his oldest son, Lonzo got traded to New Orleans, LaVar unleashed fury upon Lakers’ organization and the people who run things in LA.
The father of three Ball brothers stated that the purple and gold management is going to regret this decision. They didn’t believe in his son, and when the time comes, he will remind everybody in the City of Angels about that .
“They’re going to regret it. I’m going to have fun with it. Because I told you all, it was crashing down.”
It is hard to believe that the team is going to crash with LeBron and Anthony Davis on board because these two guys are maybe the most dominant players in their positions. But still, LaVar Ball is holding that his son Lonzo should have been the cornerstone of the Lakers franchise, and that the management had to bring together all of his three sons in order to go through current adversities.
“I said if you get the three Ball brothers, you can survive this.”
Regarding Lonzo, the stats aren’t backing up LaVar’s story. During this season, Lonzo played only 47 matches, averaging 9.9 points, 5.4 assists, 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 steals, shooting from the free throw line only 41.7%
His impact this season was minimal, and in the moments when LeBron James had to sit out because of injuries, Ball didn’t step up to take over the lead and be the person who can guide the Lakers to the playoffs. It was totally the opposite, he was quiet and pale on the court.
Lonzo’s dad has the opinion that his son played badly because of the coach, Luke Walton. LaVar marked Walton as the main reason why his son lost the confidence, and why he picked up several injuries while practicing something which wasn’t suitable for him.
“I know what went wrong. The coaching was the beginning…. You get these raggedy-ass trainers who got him training with these rubber bands — guess what, you’re going to get hurt.”
According to the 52-year old, Lonzo will help Zion Williamson become an even better player than he is right now, and cover up all of his weaknesses.
Still, what many people see here is a possibility of young point guard going to another team before the next season starts.
Besides Jrue Holiday, who is one of the best two-way guards in the league, the former Lakers playmaker doesn’t have too much room to play. Despite what his father talks in the media every day. The Pelicans, as we stated earlier, want an All-Star in their starting lineup, which will take care of the team’s development and also make them competitive right away.
Ball isn’t really fitting in these plans right now, especially when Pelicans have the no.4 pick. He is more an asset than a player to count on in the future.
But to come back on LaVar’s interview. He believes that Lakers’ mistreated his son and that they “got rid of great players” in the past, mentioning Julius Randle, D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, etc.
"Everybody who get away from the Lakers, boy they do so much better after they get away. … D'Angelo, oh he good. Julius Randle. Good."

There aren’t too any hurt feelings now, and LaVar only wants for his son to play, wherever. Everything that matters is that the former UCLA gets as many minutes as he can, and stays healthy.
“I don’t care where Lonzo plays,” he said. “I want him to play.”
We’ll see what happens in New Orleans. Is Lonzo going to stay or not. But whatever happens, there is no doubt that LaVar Ball will find a way to attract publicity.
