The Baltimore Ravens demolished Houston Texans, 41-7, in what was supposed to be a fierce fight between the two rising powers in the AFC. However, it was a one-sided beating, in which we saw one of the best QBs in the league being blown into pieces by the rivals’ defenders.
Deshaun Watson will remember this November 17, as one of the worst days in his professional career. He was sacked six times for 49 negative yards and had 2 turnovers. In the end, Watson posted just 169 yards, completing 18 of his 29 passes without a single TD.
Texans’ head coach Bill O’Brien decided to pull out his starting quarterback with 4:01 left in the game and bring in AJ McCarron.
On the other side, Lamar Jackson continued to amaze the NFL fans. Sophmore had 4 touchdown passes, becoming the first QB in the Ravens’ history with such productivity in two or more games. LJ was 17 for 24, recording 222 yards and four touchdowns, and also had 86 rushing yards on 9 carries, the longest 39 yards.
“I’ve never seen one like it … except for last week,” Ravens’ head coach John Harbaugh said about that action.
Ravens’ quarterback opened the game pretty bad completing just one of six passes for 12 yards, but he was fabulous in the second with all 7 completions for 85 yards, and two scores. The first one was to Seth Roberts 15 yards, and the second to Mark Andrews, 18 yards.
Those were the moments when Ravens started pulling away and killing the morale of the visitors. Now, the third sequence was just the extension of the previous one, with Mark Ingram catching a 25-yard toss from Jackson, and Justin Tucker adding two field goals. Ingram would add one more in the last period, which was marked by two fantastic rushing touchdowns.
Texans’ Carlos Hyde created the first one, 41 yards longs, with 7:10 left until the end. After that, Gus Edwards replied with a 63-yarder to seal this event and send the rivals back to Texas.
Though, we need to mention one controversial moment in the first period, when officials clearly made a decision that hurt the Texans. Marlon Humphrey made an obvious pass interference on DeAndre Hopkins, but the refs were silent. Even after reviewing the situation, their decision stayed the same. O’Brien was pretty mad about that following the game.
” I have no idea what pass interference is anymore,” he said.
Meanwhile, Harbaugh was happy with the way his team behaved on the field.
“I thought our guys did just a tremendous job, made a bunch of rushing yards, over 250 rushing, so that was big from running backs and offensive line,” adding one more thing. “The pass protection was outstanding.”

The Ravens are now 8-2 and are 1st in the AFC North ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers with 5-5 and the Browns 4-6. The sorry Bengals still didn’t win in 9 games. Up next, they have two big matchups, one in Los Angeles against the Rams, and the second at home versus Jimmy Garoppolo and his 49ers.
Meanwhile, the Texans, 6-4, are tied at the first place of the AFC South with the Indianapolis Colts with 6 wins and 4 losses. Right behind them are the Tennessee Titans, who have 5 triumphs and defeats each. However, in the next three weeks, O’Brien’s boys will be playing at home. The first opponents are the Colts, and that should be the crucial game of the season for Houston. They lost the first contest in Indiana, and now have to beat the divisional rivals. The Patriots are coming to town afterward, and eventually, the Denver Broncos.
