Both Keenan Allen and DeShaun Watson extended their respective contracts today. The two NFL stars signed massive deals, which would definitely benefit both them and their teams in the near future.
Chargers Believe in Allen
Once Phillip Rivers left, many started worrying about the Chargers’ future. After making a deal with Joey Bosa, and today’s agreement with Keenan Allen, that fear disappeared. The superb wide receiver inked a 4-year contract, which will bring him $80 million, $50 million guaranteed money.
Over the previous three years, Alles surpassed the 1,000-yard limit becoming a Pro Bowler on all three occasions. He is one of the best WR players in the entire generation and the Chargers’ future cornerstone.
“Want to thank the organization. Tom Telesco especially for giving me an opportunity! Super juiced about this. CHARGER FANS WE LOCKED IN FOR ANOTHER ROUND, FOREVER A CHARGER!” Allen signed on his Twitter account.

The 28-year old, was drafted seven years ago at the 2013 NFL draft as the 76th overall pick, coming out of the University of California. Allen won the NFL Rookie of the Year Award that same year, becoming an immediate contributor for the San Diego Chargers at the time.
Throughout 2015 and 2016, he had multiple injuries, which prevented him from playing more than nine games combined, but the year after, Allen would win the NFL Comeback Player of the Year, recording 1,393 yards and six TDs in 16 games. Since then, he has reached the full potential, becoming one of the best players in the league in the WR position.
In 88 appearances for the Chargers’ franchise, Allen nailed 6,405 receiving yards and 34 TDs. He is expected to help young Justin Herbert. improve and develop into one of the best QBs, who would, after that, successfully replace Rivers and lead the team to some good results in the playoffs.
Watson Near Mahomes
The Texans gave DeShaun Watson a four-year extension worth 160 million, and made him one of the best-paid players in the league. The only one ahead of him is Patrick Mahomes, who will have $45 million per year, which is $6 million more than Houston’s leader.
Watson has become an elite QB, indicating his phenomenal capabilities immediately after seizing the starting position in his rookie year. The 12th pick overall, fresh coming out of Clemson, amazed everyone with his performances, which were later interrupted with an ACL injury.

In 7 appearances for the Texans, he had 19 TD passes and 2 on the ground, and those numbers got much better in the next two years. In 2018, 26 TD passes and five rushing scores, and in 2019 the same number of TD tossed only with seven TDs on the ground.
So far, Watson has 9,716 yards through the air with 71 scores, and 14 TDs by running. He is also one of few quarterbacks to have more than one season with 25 passing and 5 rushing TDs.
“… I promise to do everything I can to not only bring a championship to this great city but also leave a legacy of helping positively impact this community. Now back to the work …” Watson wrote on his Twitter account.
His Texans had a lot of work throughout this offseason. They would denounce DeAndre Hopkins, arguably the best WR in the league, but added David Johnson from Arizona, where Hopkins got traded. Also, Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb are also the new Texans players.
The competition in the AFC is fierce, but the experts see Houston as one of the teams able to deliver some sort of a surprise and take down the Ravens and the Chiefs.
