On Monday Night Football, the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the New York Giants 20-17, following a hard fight at the Arrowhead stadium.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs once again struggled. This time against the mediocre and injury-shredded Giants, who came to Missouri without several big-time players. We need to add that they even had a nice chance to win this one, but an offside committed by Oshane Ximines, voided Darnay Holmes’ interception on Patrick Mahomes with some four minutes to go.
Harrison Butker would seal the win with a 34-yard field goal with 67 seconds to go. The kicker would previously score from 36 yards to level the score and in fact, needs to be credited the most for the Chiefs’ rally in the last period.
“Listen, everything is not beautiful right now, but we’re fighting through it,” Reid said. “Our guys battled. They didn’t give up on each other. They kept working at a time you could have just thrown your hands up.”
Kansas City drew the first blood, midway through the first, with Tyreek Hill catching a 6-yard TD pass from Patrick Mahomes. The second quarter was very exciting, as Giants responded through Kyle Rudolph, and the Chiefs added one more TD, only this time on the ground, with Derrick Gore rushing for three yards.
NYG scored once more, right at the beginning of the fourth, as Evan Engram caught the TD pass.
Daniel Jones had a nice game, with 222 yards through the air, completing 22 of his 32 passing attempts, and being sacked three times. His primary targets were John Rss with 72 yards in two catches and Devontae Booker 65 yards in five receptions.
What wasn’t good at all in their game was rushing, with the guests from the Big Apple posting only 72 yards in the ground, Booker 60 in 15 carries, and Jones 12 in five. Saquon Barkley’s absence was felt massively, which is one reason why the Giants couldn’t execute a better rushing performance.
Head coach Joe Judge acknowledged that and several more aspects of the game, adding that his team made way too many mistakes in tonight’s game which was the ultimate reason for the defeat.
“We have to eliminate the mistakes we made down the stretch,” Giants coach Joe Judge said. “We can’t allow a team like this to have extra opportunities. We can’t rob ourselves a chance to have opportunities of our own.”

Mahomes threw 275 yards, 29-for-48, with one TD and one pick. He targeted Tyreek Hill the most, 12 times for 94 yards and one TD. Mecole Hardman caught 63 yards, Darrell Williams 61. He also had 49 yards on the ground, one more than Gore.
The AFC champs now have four wins and losses each, but a pretty nasty schedule. At first, the Packers are coming to Arrowhead on Sunday. After that, they head for Las Vegas to meet the divisional rivals, the Raiders, and come back home to face the Dallas Cowboys.
On the other side, the Giants are 2-6, with the playoff hopes slowly fading away. Their next rivals will be the Raiders at MetLife, which is a match the NYG simply needs to win. Following that challenge, Jones and the boys travel down south to Florida, where they face the Super Bowl champions, Bucs, and host the Philadelphia Eagles at home, in a divisional matchup.
