The LA Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs put up one memorable spectacle at the Coliseum this Monday. The home team won 54-51, posting their 10th win of the season, with Jared Goff managing to come on top of Patrick Mahomes.
Monday Night Football is the holy cow of the American sports. Every single game is a unique spectacle and memory of its kind. But last night’s battle went beyond those limits, becoming one of the historical events, which will be written in every football class book. The clash between the Rams and the Chiefs became highest-scoring game ever played on MNF. But not only that, the intensity of play, actions on both sides, excitement, everything was on the highest possible level.
“It was unbelievable,” said Goff, who finished the game with 413 yards and four TD passes ” Unbelievable… Just four quarters of just craziness”
The Rams quarterback found Gerald Everett with 1:48 until the end, making a 40-yard touchdown pass, setting the final result. But the thrill wasn’t over yet, as the Chiefs had two more possessions after that, but each time they did, the home team’s defense reacted impeccably.
They forced Mahomes to throw two interceptions. The first one was made by Marcus Peters, the former Chiefs cornerback, who ended up in LA after being traded this summer. A two-time Pro Bowl didn’t hesitate to show his emotions and to set the crowd on fire. Whether this match was personal for him or not, he did a great job throughout the whole event.
In the second possession, with 25 seconds to go, Lamarcus Joyner was the one who grabbed the football, ending this rollercoaster.
All of this wouldn’t happen if it weren’t for Samson Ebukam. The 4th round pick from 2017 Draft became the first player who recorded a sack, an interception and multiple touchdowns in one game. To be more precise he had two last night, one after a fumble, and the other one an 11-yard return after an interception.
“It was electric,” Ebukam said. “It’s hard to describe, because I’m still like in a game mode right now. I haven’t calmed down yet, so it hasn’t really all sunk in yet.”
However, his scoring abilities didn’t decide this event. During the last two plays, Ebukam was the player who forced Mahomes to threw under pressure, and on both occasions that resulted in him being distracted and disorientated. Those two passes were bad judgments and the young quarterback admitted that he made the wrong choices.
“I gave them 21 points through turnovers,” said Mahomes “It sucks right now, plain and simple. You wanted a win like that over a playoff team.”
Chiefs quarterback finished the game with unreal 478 yards, and 6 touchdown passes, becoming the first quarterback with 6 or more TD passes in the Monday Night Football. But he also had three turnovers and two fumbles. Those two fumbles were forced by Aaron Donald, league’s leader in the category. At the moment, Rams’ defensive tackle has 14.5 sacks since the season started, and he is once again the biggest favorite for winning the Defensive Player of the Year award.
Tyreek Hill had a monstrous game. Kansas City’s wide receiver collected 215 yards and two touchdowns. His longest reception was 73 yards long, and it happened at the start of the last period.

Visitors became the first team in history who lost while scoring 50+ points.
Both sides will have two weeks at their disposal to rest and heal from this exhausting encounter. After that, the Rams travel to Detroit to face the Lions. Kansas City will have the opportunity to quickly bounce back on the right track, as they head for Oakland to meet with the Raiders, who are in a rebuilding process.
