Jared Dudley responded to the recent comments Steve Kerr made about the case of Anthony Davis’ forced trade to the Los Angeles Lakers. The veteran player who landed at Staples Center this summer told that he disagrees with the Warriors’ head coach, adding that AD had every right to ask for a trade.
Kerr revealed his concerns a few days ago and explained that many athletes might follow the Eyebrow’s footsteps and force a trade if they stop liking the negotiated deals. The three-time champ with the Warriors received a response from one of AD’s future teammates, Jared Dudley.
The veteran who came to the Lakers from Brooklyn said that he believes the players should have the right to demand a trade for several reasons. One of them is when circumstances in the franchise itself are changed.
Because, why can’t a player ask out of his contract if what you sold him on changed?” Dudley asked. “Happens all the time. Hey, we want to win, but now we’re going to rebuild.”

Afterward, he pointed towards the fact that there are double-standards in the league when it comes to protecting the interests of the teams.
“Vice-versa where a guy gets traded after a year when there are three years left on his contract. And so why can a team be able to trade, but a player can’t ask for a trade?”
Dudley stood in defense of Davis whose only sin, according to veteran’s opinion, was his public request for a trade. That action made many feel uncomfortable, especially after LeBron James openly called the former Pelicans’ star to come and join him in the Lakers. The 34-year-old compared AD’s situation with Paul George’s. Both of them wanted to get out from their respective franchises, but PG quietly asked to be traded to the Clippers.
He too accepted the invitation of another superstar (Kawhi Leonard), which could be considered as some sort of tampering.
However, nobody accused George of doing a bad thing, and truth to be told, after his departure, Oklahoma City Thunder fell apart.
“Paul George asks for a trade, but no one knows about it. But Anthony Davis comes out, and because it’s public, now he’s getting killed, just because it’s public,” Dudley compared the two situations.
The player underlined in his interview that he is a huge fan of Steve Kerr and doesn’t have anything against him. Simply he just wanted to say the other version of the story.
Anthony Davis and his previous saga with the club finally ended the way he wanted. One of the best centers in the past several decades ended alongside LeBron James and will attack the title now. Dudley also signed with the purple and gold same as Davis’ former teammate DeMarcus Cousins.

The Pelicans received a bunch of very talented and promising players, who were sent in exchange for Davis. They also converted the No.4 pick Lakers gave them into two lower choices later used to increase the youth of the team.
The fact that the Lakers emerged as one of the top contenders for the title, and that they signed Cousins might have been the trigger for Kerr’s reaction. The Warriors won’t be the ultimate favorites for the NBA rings, while on the other side, LeBron now has the most dominant team in the league. Kevin Durant is no longer in Oakland, and D’Angelo Russell needs some time to adjust to the system.
Plus, GSW has troubles with injured Klay Thompson who won’t be ready to play for a long time.
