The game of the day in the English Premier League took place at Wembley where Tottenham Hotspurs hosted the in-form Manchester United.
The guests won with a minimal result, 0-1, announcing their comeback at the big stage, after being forgotten for a while, during Jose Mourinho’s coaching tenure. Marcus Rashford used his speed to hurt Tottenham after one quick counter-attack, and a superb pass from Paul Pogba.
The English winger received the pass at the right edge of Spurs’ box, and sent a hard low shot towards the far post of Hugo Lloris’ goal. The French goalkeeper couldn’t touch the ball and divert it, as it ended in the net behind his back.

This was the 6th straight win for the most successful team in the Premiership history, after which they reached Arsenal at the fifth place in the standings.
The hero of the Red Devils was the goalkeeper, Davide De Gea, who saved several unreal chances of the hosts, and amazed his teammates who couldn’t hide their excitement after his reactions.
“Obviously when you make 11 saves it is a top performance, but even so, two of them were top saves but the rest you would expect David to make, ” said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, about the performance of his goalkeeper.
The Norwegian manager was said to be the savior of his former team, because of the results Manchester posts since his arrival.
But this wasn’t an easy task for the visitors today. Tottenham had their chances, and we might even say that they deserved to score at least once, but in the end, they couldn’t do it. Harry Kane and Dele Alli had several big opportunities to net, but the reactions and saves De Gea performed were simply not from this world.
After Harry Winks’ miss in the 9th minute, when Spurs defender sent the ball beside the goal, every big chance of the hosts was denied by the Spaniard.
In critical situations, and moments when Tottenham pressured United, at the start of the second half, De Gea closed all the paths towards his net. Saves after Harry Kane’s shot in the 48th minute, and Alli’s in the 50th, only increased the morale of United’s players, who had chances to double the lead shortly after.

To be more precise, Paul Pogba had three superb opportunities to decide this game, but Lloris was the obstacle he couldn’t pass on each occasion.
The punishment was just around the corner, but Dele Alli’s strike after a counter-attack was restrained once again by the man of the match.
After this, he protected United three more times until the final whistle, silencing the critics, who were doubting his form, especially at the early stage of the season, when he had a low percentage of saved shots.
“I don’t even remember some of the saves so I can’t pick a best. The manager brought some happiness, the players are playing well and the team is very strong now.” the Spaniard said right after he left the pitch.

Home team’s manager Mauricio Pochettino was disappointed with the result, but proud of the performance his boys displayed in the second 45 minutes. According to his words, it was the best half Tottenham played under his command.
“After four and a half years, the second half was the best performance I have seen Tottenham play,” Poch told the reporters. “It was amazing.”
Manchester United is not trailing Arsenal in the fifth place on the Premier League standings with 41 points each. They are six points behind Chelsea and seven behind Tottenham, who are sitting at the places which lead to the Champions League.
If by any chance they keep the same pace, it shouldn’t be a surprise to see them among top 4 clubs in England.
Tottenham is third, with 9 points fewer than Liverpool, and one behind Man City who has one game to play yet. It will be the closing fixture of this round, tomorrow night against Wolves.
Spurs are meeting with Fulham next week, while Manchester United plays at home against Brighton and Hove Albion.
