UFC 238 saw a lot of excitement in Chicago tonight. Several raw fights took place in the Windy City, but the most important was the one between Henry Cejudo and Marlon Moraes.
Cejudo (15-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) won this encounter and became only the fourth fighter in the history of UFC with two titles in different categories at the same time. Other three are Daniel Cornier, Amanda Nunes, and Conor McGregor.
Following the fight, Cejudo emphasized the fact that he also has an Olympic gold medal in wrestling, and that his achievement is more significant than others.
“I’m not champ-champ,” Cejudo said. “My name is Triple C — Olympic champion, flyweight champion of the world and now bantamweight champion of the world.”
Cejudo defeated Moraes (22-6-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) at 4:51 in the third round, by a TKO after he landed several hard hits and elbows while holding the Brazilian on the ground.
Though, the starts of the match didn’t indicate such an ending. Moraes was much better, and he hurt Cejudo from all sorts of positions. He was much faster, and for the time being, Moraes didn’t allow his rival getting comfortable.

Still, that couldn’t last too long. As the second round went by, Moraes slowly started losing his juice. His speed wasn’t that noticeable, and judging by the way he moved up and down the ring, it was obvious that his power is decreasing. The momentum changed, and Cejudo became more and more aggressive.
The third round saw Cejudo dominating the fight. After some minute and a half, he began wearing Moraes taking him down on the ground. He was choking the rival, tying him up, constantly pressuring and forcing him to be defensive. Once Cejudo got Moraes on his back, there wasn’t any chance for him to get away. Hard punches, followed by elbows which were the deciding factor, eventually disarmed the Brazilian and the referee had to stop the fight with nine seconds to go until the end of the third.
“I’m the greatest combat athlete of all time, and I just stole the title of best pound-for-pound fighter too,” said Cejudo after the fight.
He already has the plan for his next fights. During his interview, the US fighter stated that he wants a shot at Dominic Cruz, Cody Garbrandt, and Urijah Faber.
“If anybody ever gets offended that I called him out, I just want to challenge myself, that’s it,” said Cejudo. “I just want to see how much I can push my body and soul.”
Besides Cejudo vs. Moraes, which was the main event of the night, UFC 238 the fans saw another spectacle. The fight between Tony Ferguson (25-3 MMA 15-1 UFC) and Donald Cerrone (36-12 MMA, 23-9 UFC) didn’t leave anyone flat.
The two guys were putting up a hell of a battle, which ended with the referees stopping the match before the start of the third round. Cerrone’s condition was too risky. At the time of the stop, he had his orbital bone damaged, his nose broken and his eye swollen. The result was a TKO win of the Ferguson, which was his 12th triumph in a row, making him the sixth on the all-time consecutive victories list.

Cerrone was better in the first round, but in the second Ferguson took over the wheel and started repaying his debt. However, right before the start of the third, Cerrone blew his nose and closed the right eye completely, which was the signal for the medical staff to intervene and to stop the fight.
“That was the fight I think everybody wanted. I don’t quit, I don’t back down. I just want to keep fighting,” Cerrone stated after the match.
Not to forget, Valentina Shevchenko defended her title for the first time, and she did it whit style, by knocking Jessica Eye. The challenger was without conscious for more than a minute. Shevchenko’s left head kick was unreal.
