Golden State Warriors made their life much tougher than it should have been, but eventually, they defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves. It was the first time this season for GSW to win two matches in a row.
“It feels ***** amazing. I never thought I’d be so excited about two regular season wins in my life,” said Draymond Green after the contest.
Instead of closing the game against the poor T-Wolves already during the third period, Steve Kerr’s boys allowed the guests to come back and threaten their lead. However, Alec Burks prevented further complications, and the hosts won 113-104.
After reaching a 24-point advantage with 4:27 left in the third quarter, it seemed that the hosts might demolish Minnesota. Steve Kerr left D’Angelo Russell on the bench and proceeded with the guys who didn’t have that much chance to play.
But it turned out to be a mistake. The Timberwolves closed that period with a 9-2 run and opened the final sequence with a 16-5 burst, cutting the deficit to just 6 points. A festival of three-pointers took place after that, but the Warriors managed to hold on and to rebuff Wolves’ push.
Alec Burks scored 8 points in those moments, giving the pace to his crew, and keeping them alive.
He would end the match with 25 buckets and 8 assists, indicating that he might have a useful role once all the injured players start playing again.
D-Lo had 30 points, with 4 assists and boards, shooting 8-for-18, from the field. Damion Lee was there to hit a couple of big-time shots, totaling up to 14 buckets, while Willie Cauley-Stein scored 12 points.
Draymond Green had 9, but added 14 rebounds, similar as Marquese Chriss with 6 points and 11 boards.

On the other side, the guests appeared without Karl-Anthony Towns, who already missed four games due to a knee injury. They would allow Golden State to have an edge on the glass with 55 boards compared to only 41 by the visitors, and to have more assists 26-16.
Andrew Wiggins once again scored a team-high but with a poor shooting percentage. The former No.1 pick dropped 22 points, with 7 boards, hitting 10 of his 27 shots, 1-for-8 from behind the arc. Jordan McLaughlin came off the bench and contributed with 19 points, while Jeff Teague had 12 buckets.
It was the 11th straight defeat for Minnesota (10-19), who started the season well, but somewhere along the road got back to its old habits. Once again, they began playing without any concept, selfish and not minding too much about the defense. Some are suggesting that KAT and Wiggins are not in good relationships and that the two superstars battle over the leadership of the team. It wouldn’t be too odd to see one of them traded, as Timberwolves need a radical change in the near future. Otherwise, this is going to be another frustrating and losing season.
The Warriors (7-24) meanwhile are showing some signs of life. Whether it is that short-term flash or something else, we will see. Up next, they host the Rockets on Christmas Day, and that will be the perfect test for them. Houston defeated the Sacramento Kings earlier today, also with 113-104. After that, GSW has a clash against the Phoenix Suns at home on Friday.
Meanwhile, Minnesota faces the Kings, also on Thursday.
