The Korean region is considered to be one of the strongest regions in the League of Legends. Not only Koreans and their neighbors but also players from all over the world are watching what is happening in the region.
Besides the veteran players known, some new faces are doing quite well. This makes LCK even more interesting to watch this year. LCK’s first month has passed the table and shaping up, while the new lineups are having their fair share of troubles. Let’s have a look at one of the most promising games of the season.
Gen.G vs SK Telecom T1 (LCK 2019 Spring Season, Best of 3 match, FEB 16, 2019, 9:00 AM CET)
The match has caught our attention owing to the roller coaster ride of both teams in the Spring Split 2019. SKT T1 had their fair share of troubles but have managed to get off to a good start meanwhile Gen.G was speculated to make a good run, but they are fighting in the bottom ranks. So, it will be a good practice to see which team will come out on top.
Gen.G
The former world champions had one of the worst performances in the Season 8 of the competition. The Gen.G side in 2018 Worlds was eliminated in the first stage of the competition, where they played six games and one had one victory with five defeats. So after this horrible performance, it was predictable that we would see a lot of changes in the team and that they did. We saw the first performance of the Gen.G 2.0 side in the Kespa Cup. The team showed impressive and respectable performances and with a bit of luck, they managed to make their way to the final. So it seemed like the former World Champions could begin their new season with a fairytale start by claiming the first title of the season, however, fate had other plans.
Gen.G fighting against their luck
They came into the semi-final of the Kespa Cup with a victory over the KT Rolster team which realistically was a fluke of a victory with tons of mistakes from the KT side.
In the final against Griffin, they were completely outplayed. It will not be an exaggeration if we say that they were utterly humiliated in a 3-0 defeat. After the result critics predicted that the side will struggle in the season and they were right.
Mediocre start of the season
After almost midway to the season, the side has lost four and won two. They are currently nowhere near to make it to the playoffs let alone making to the playoffs will be a dream for the side. The two matches they won were against the teams that also have their fair share of struggles. In some of the games they lost, they were quite close to victory. Yet Gen.G just couldn’t finish off their games.
Objective gameplay but crippling gamestyle
Gen.G has a decent record of taking objectives in the early stage but they just can’t destroy the nexus. It looks like their roster just can’t find the way to play together. The lack of chemistry and communication is quite evident in the team. The loss of Ambition and CoreJJ has been proved disastrous for the team. Meanwhile, Ruler just can’t seem to dominate in the bottom lane. The jungle is disastrous for Peanut. He was signed as the highest paid player in his position. At that time, it seemed like a wise investment looking at his previous record which included winning the MSI 2017, the MSI 2018 and the Korean Split.
Therefore, having such a prestigious record and an attractive salary should put some pressure on the player to shine sooner rather than later.
SK Telecom T1
After a series of disappointing results with the new lineup, it seems like SK Telecom T1 is finally getting back in form.
The side showed disappointing results at the Kespa Cup and even got off to a poor start in the initial games of the Spring. However, in the past few weeks, the side has found the much-needed chemistry and are now sitting 3rd in the ranking of the Spring season.
Faker leading from the front
It seemed like Faker and the squad has settled in the competition and will surely look to make a mark in the weeks to come. However, losing the sides that a lot of places below them shows that the team still has a lot of things to work on to even become a shadow of their former self. But the work rate is there, the team is improving and they have the results to show for it. They are taking the objectives quickly across the Summoner’s Rift. But failing to finish games quickly when they are at an advantage against the far inferior teams might become an obstacle in the hopes of their rejuvenation.
Final Verdict
At the moment, the fans, the coaches and the players will be satisfied with the results of SKT. However, to our understanding, this game will be a big test for the side. On paper, it might look like an easy win for SKT T1, but Gen.G will be a big test for this emerging side. Since Gen.G have great players but are not getting the results they want. Who knows they might just get the victory against SKT T1. With that being said we predict a very close game. It might as well be one of the closest series of the Spring Season of the LCK. Since SKT has built up a reputation to slip against struggling teams and Gen.G surely has its fair share of struggles, so a win for any team could make or break the season. Make sure to watch the games live and get in on the live betting action. This match will surely have the closest odd and will provide tons of chances of victory.
