Led by Drew Brees, the young receiving core of the New Orleans Saints overpowered the Atlanta Falcons last night, and clinched another win. It was 31-18 for the hosts, who continued their magnificent run.
At the moment, all the hype in the NFL about the Saints winning streak. And to be completely honest, these guys deserved it. The most recent triumph of the injury-plagued New Orleans came against Atlanta this Thursday on Thanksgiving Football.
Four guys who are mostly backups and replacements all scored one touchdown apiece. For Tommylee Lewis and Austin Carr, it was the second time in their respective careers to get the football into the end zone, while Keith Kirkwood and Dan Arnold did it for the first time.

The latter one is the 50th Saint who scored a touchdown after Brees’ pass.
What makes their achievement interesting and thrilling is the fact, that all four guys went undrafted when entering the league. And for Brees, that is something which gives him even more joy.
“It’s fun to watch them grow and gain confidence. We’re building chemistry, which typically takes time, right? But they’ve been thrust into this role.” Saints QB said.
He didn’t spend too much energy last night. 171 yards thrown are way below his level, but Brees still managed to post 4 TD passes. Though, he did have one interception, the second one of the season.
Without Brandon Marshall, Tre’Quan Smith, Ted Ginn Jr., Cameron Meredith, etc, this is a fantastic thing to see.
Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram dictated the tempo on the ground, rushing 141 yards combined. They didn’t manage to score, but both of them made lots of problems for the Falcons’ defensive team.
The Saints defense was also without a single mistake. Matt Ryan was sacked six times, which is the season-high for New Orleans defenders. They managed to force three turnovers within the 20 yards from their end zone and to decrease Atlanta’s rushing game to only 26 yards! Now that is something which hasn’t been seen in a while.

“I think the mindset after tonight with the long weekend is for each of us individually to take a look in the mirror to see what we have got to do better to help our team play better than we have up until this point.” Matty Ice stated in front of the media after last night’s tough loss.
The 2016 MVP finished this game with 377 yards, completing 35 of 47 attempts, 2 TD’s one interception and three fumbles, one of them on a third-and-2, three yards from the Saints end zone.
Julio Jones had 11 receptions for 147 yards, but the Pro Bowl made a mistake when he lost the ball on Saints’ 17, just before the halftime. That was the decisive moment of this game, as the hosts preserved their 17-3 lead at the break.
“It’s rough right now for us. You don’t want guys to quit,” Jones said. “This is the time you get to see what guys are really like.”
This was the third loss in a row for the Falcons, who are now in a complicated situation. They must win at least four of the remaining five games to have some chances of reaching the postseason, and also have other results in their favor. Next week Falcons host the Ravens, then travel to Green Bay.
Currently, they are two games behind the Minnesota Vikings who hold the last wild-card place.
The Saints continue the race with the Rams for the top spot in the NFC with a trip to Dallas, after which they have two more road games, in Tampa and Charlotte.
