Manchester City squares off with Tottenham on Saturday afternoon at Etihad Stadium. The champs look confident ahead of this clash, coming back from Portugal, where they annihilated Sporting in the first leg of the UCL round of 16. Meanwhile, Tottenham has certain troubles in their game, losing the last three EPL events, and having several poor performances in domestic cups. Though, we need to say that the Spurs have several games fewer than other rivals for fourth place in the standings and that they still didn’t lose hopes for finding themselves in the UEFA Champions League next year.
Just to add, you have more EPL picks from my dear friend Kurt available here.
Preview
Manchester City (-400) unleashed hell upon sporting in Lisbon, winning 5-0 and sending the message to all other UCL rivals. This was one of the best performances for Guardiola and his boys this year and something that only pictures this team’s fantastic shape.
For the moment, City is without a loss for 13 straight games, winning 12 during that stretch and having four victories in a row at the moment. In all of them, the Citizens have allowed one goal while on the other side scoring 15.
One by one, they beat Fulham 4-1, Brentford 2-0, Norwich, 0-4 and at last Sporting. When looking only at the home events, City has 10 straight wins, in all but one of them scoring two or more goals.
Tottenham (+900) has had very shaky results in the last six weeks. Right now, Conte’s crew lost the last three English Premier League events and, overall, has five defeats in the past 10 games, with only three wins and a draw.
The defense is highly problematic, conceding at least once in the previous eight games, which hasn’t been the case before. On the other side, the attacking part of the crew is not constant at all, and even though they burst often, we see them pretty inefficient most of the time.
Tottenham’s results on the road are inconsistent as well, losing five of the previous 10, winning three, and posting two draws. Also, they have allowed at least two goals in the previous three outings.
Latest News
The hosts will have a few players out for this event. Gabriel Jesus is injured, the same as Jack Grealish, Palmer, and Steffen. Mendy is suspended.
On the other side, the only questionable name is Tanganga, who has issues with his knee.
Head to Head Results
Tottenham defeated the Citizens in the first meeting this year. It was a minimal win for the Spurs, 1-0, with the only goal being delivered by Son in the 55th minute of the event.
The fun fact in this matchup is that the latest five events were with only one side scoring and that four of them ended with under 2.5 goals.
Prediction
The Citizens are our pick here, as they look far better at the moment and more convincing than the Spurs. Conte’s side is in a small crisis, and there is no denial about that. Meanwhile, Man City is almost at the peak of its form, and the only logical solution here is to bet on their win. We would add that the hosts are going to cover a 1.5-goal spread to increase the odds.
Pick: Man City -1.5 -110
Here is the preview for Juventus vs Torino game.
