The Premiership is back and we have two games this Wednesday, both of them pretty interesting. The one which will be presented in this text is between Manchester City and Arsenal, with all due respect towards Aston Villa’s and Sheffield United’s players, we need to say that this match is much more attractive. By the way, my colleague Kurt Boyer did the preview of the entire round, and you can check out his picks by following this link. He and I often like to cover the same matches, but be sure that our picks are on the same page.
Preview
Manchester City (-310) comes into this event as the second-placed team in the English Premier League, but that isn’t too important at the moment. The Sky-Blues are suspended from participating in European competitions for the next two years, and they won’t count in the finals standings.
Guardiola will use these few weeks to raise the form of his squad and prepare them for the upcoming Champions League challenges, where his side has to finish the job against Real Madrid, and if that concludes well, take on the final eight tournaments in Portugal.
As we all know, City’s and Guardiola’s obsession is the UCL trophy and having in mind that the circumstances and the future situation with the suspension, it is all or nothing for them now. EPL will be used for getting prepared for that competition, but it doesn’t mean that we are going to see them giving away points.
Arsenal (+850) is a heavy underdog here, but they simply have to go after a win. With three points won here, they are completely back in the UCL race, and that was almost impossible to imagine just a few rounds ago. If the guests win, the difference between them and Manchester United, who is fifth, would be only two points.
For Mikel Arteta’s boys that is something which they didn’t hope to achieve, and for sure, the mental edge in the UCL race would be on Arsenal’s side. They would be the ones who have nothing to lose, while United, Chelsea, Tottenham, and all the others would be in a different situation.
Latest News
Manchester City has no problems with injured players, and Guardiola has the entire team at his disposal.
Meanwhile, Torreira and Callum Chambers are the two guys who have to skip this one due to their respective injuries.
Head to Head Games
City is a nightmare for the Gunners, and the Sky-Blues have six straight wins over this rival and haven’t lost in official matches since late 2015.
Meanwhile, the first clash of the season, at Emirates, ended with Citizens’ easy victory 0-3. Everything was sorted out after the initial 45 minutes, with De Bruyne scoring twice and Sterling adding one more hit.
Prediction
From this point of view, regardless of the tactics and all other strategical moments, seeing fewer than three goals in this match would be pretty surprising. Both sides have excellent attacks, with world-class forwards, and that is why we want to propose both teams to score and over 2.5 goals, with the moneyline set at -110.
Our second pick, the one which could be even safer than the first, is over 1.5 goals in the second halftime. Moneyline there is -185.
