Dwayne Haskins has been released by the Washington Football Team tonight, and that is the biggest news of the day in the NFL. The sophomore quarterback didn’t show his potential in DC and is now without a team. However, we here at WagerBop.com strongly believe that the former Ohio State Buckeye will get back to the league pretty soon, probably already this offseason.
Therefore, we’ve made a list of four potential destinations where this guy might end up. Check it out, as we are more than positive that one of them will be his next home.
Denver Broncos
Drew Lock needs some motivation. Blake Bortles isn’t the guy who can come back to the starting place, and we believe that all the executives in the Broncos’ organization already know that. We aren’t underestimating the former Jaguar, but simply, his time is over, and he can’t be anything other than a backup.
All this means that he can’t endanger Lock, who is feeling safe, which is one reason he still didn’t develop as many expected. Getting Haskins to Mile High would undoubtedly spice things up and put some pressure on Denver’s current starter. Haskins would be an ideal candidate to either force Lock to dig deep or to take his job.
Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati is in Ohio. Haskins went to Ohio. Cincinnati has Joe Burrow, whose injury is very delicate, and even though many believe that he might be back for 2021, nobody is willing to rush his recovery. Also, their backup QB Ryan Finley isn’t that great, and Haskins’ arrival at Paul Brown Stadium would be bingo for multiple reasons.
The entire state knows him, he feels comfortable, while on the other side, the Bengals would get at backup capable of jumping in if Burrow feels some consequences following his comeback or a starter who would play until the No.1 pick gets healthy 100%.
New York Giants
Check this out, Colt McCoy is bad. He really is. We’ve seen it in several matches he started instead of Daniel Jones. Now, the Giants need to have a solid backup QB, and the upcoming draft isn’t that deep on this position for them to pick someone in the second or the third round.
Meanwhile, Haskins would be cheap, talented, and more importantly, he knows the NFC East division very well, which will come in handy at certain moments. Think about that. Jones showed that he too could pick up an injury, and why pushing him over the limits at a young age with nothing at stake.
New England Patriots
We have a scenario. It might be a bit more creative, but anyway, listen to it. Bill Belichick can’t get any good QB in the first round. Mac Jones, maybe, but he is not a game-changer. On the market, Carson Wentz is the best Pats can obtain as a long-term solution. But he is very, very expensive and also injury prone.
So, he leaves Newton, and gets Haskins as his backup to sit and learn for another year. Even if Belichick finds someone to be his new leader, he will have a stable replacement that knows the system well enough.
Also, if New England acquires Wentz, Haskins would be a perfect backup, ready to fill in all those games the current Eagles’ superstar would miss due to his health issues.
