RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt will compete in the German Cup or, as some call it, the DFB Pokal finals. RB Leipzig attempts to win back-to-back titles and make this season successful. Eintracht has been after another trophy in the past several years. After 2018 and the DFB Pokal, they won the Europa League last season, and silverware here would seal what might be one of the best chapters in their history. The game is on this Saturday night at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
Here is the preview for the FA Cup finals between Manchester City and Manchester United.
Preview
Prior to this matchup, the RB Leipzig (-130) posted six consecutive triumphs, winning nine of the most recent ten contests across all the competitions. We’ve seen them dismantling several teams, but the most impressive performance was in Munich, where they trashed Bayern, 1-3, coming back following an initial deficit.
Marco Rose’s unit is playing fast and efficient football. We saw them scoring a minimum of two goals in four of the previous five games, often wasting a couple of dead chances and missing an opportunity to make their triumphs even more convincing.
What makes Leipzig very dangerous is the speed of their forwards, as both Nkunku and Werner make a very lethal duo when having an open field ahead of themselves. It’s why Leipzig’s fast breaks bring plenty of goals.
Eintracht Frankfurt (+310) had a stable campaign which can turn out to be great. Several players were gone during the transfer window without proper replacements, so we could say that the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League was a major success. Yet, winning the DFB Pokal would eclipse all the expectations.
The Eagles play solid football, and their results are mixed but not negative. Over the recent six contests, we’ve seen them posting three victories, two ties, and one loss.
In terms of efficiency, each time Eintracht hits the pitch, we expect to see plenty of goals. Only one of the recent six didn’t see three or more hits, and the same number finished with goals on both ends.
Latest News
Apart from Peter Gulacsi all other RB players are fit and ready to roll against Eintracht.
Sebastian Rode, Lucas Alario, and Hrvoje Smolcic are all injured, and these three guys are not eligible for Saturday’s contest.
Head to Head Games
Eintracht blew RB into pieces in early September last season, beating them 4-0 in Frankfurt. Four different players netted for the Eagles, Lamada, Rode, Tuta, and Borre. Kolo Muani had two assists. RB hit back in Leipzig, 2-1, with Werner and Forsberg scoring inside the first half. Djibril Sow cut the lead in the second, but Eintracht couldn’t level the score until the end.
During the previous campaign, they had two ties, 1-1 in Frankfurt and 0-0 in Leipzig.
Prediction
The two sides like to play fast football, with high intensity and plenty of action all over the field. Despite this being a match with high stakes, we simply don’t expect both head coaches to change anything in their approach and tactics, meaning we should see goals on both sides. Both attacks are better than the respective defenses that await them, so we go with both teams to score here, at -166.
Pick: Both teams to score -166
