Derek Carr and his next team are the most interesting topic in the NFL community right now. The 31-year-old quarterback’s situation is beside the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win, something which fills the media headlines, and we are here to present the teams with the best odds for his next destination.
After nine years with the Raiders, the team released Carr last week, terminating his contract and moving on. His stint in Oakland/Las Vegas has been marked as a bust, and there is a certain dose of bitterness on both ends.
Carr was the 36th overall pick once drafted back in 2014, and during his time with the silver and black, he recorded 35,222 passing yards, 217 touchdowns, and 99 interceptions in 142 starts.

He earned four Pro Bowl selections and led the team only twice to the playoffs in 2016 once the Raiders had a superb regular part of the season, yet with him injuring at the end and not playing in the postseason, and in 2021
Upon his release from the Raiders, several teams immediately pursued the player. Even though many believe he isn’t an elite quarterback, at 31 years, Carr presents a bingo for the majority of the franchises in the NFL. His landing would provide safety at the QB position for at least four years. Here are the top contenders for Carr’s signature
Carolina Panthers +140
Frank Reich is in Carolina, and the team from Charlotte needs a reliable quarterback. Experiments with Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield didn’t succeed, and Carr’s landing in North Caroline is of the utmost importance.
This unit has a solid roster that will be strengthened with a veteran QB, and maybe even further built with several more players who would come after that.
New Orleans Saints +150
The Saints are a title-caliber team, they only need a QB. Nothing more. Even without Sean Payton in the picture, this team has one of the best rosters in the NFL but lacks a proper QB. Jameis Winston and other solutions didn’t work well, and having Carr onboard would significantly improve their prospects.
The chemistry in the locker room and on the court is great, with all the key players being together for quite some time.

New York Jets +350
The Jets have an incredibly talented team, with them hitting the bullseye in the past NFL draft and taking a few fantastic kids like Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson. These two are arguably the best rookies in the league right now. But not only that, the franchise from New York is on the rise, and that’s obvious, with them only lacking a good QB.
They would for sure win more than seven games this year with Carr behind the driving seat at the QB position, and for the moment, he and Aaron Rodgers are the Jets’ two primary targets.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers +900
Brady is out, and most of the championship team is gone from Tampa Bay, though this unit still has two of the best wide receivers in the league, Chris Godwin and Mike Evans. Carr’s style of play would be a perfect fit for these two, and the Bucs could again start adding names to the roster and create a unit that would be competitive for at least the playoffs.
