Dallas Cowboys crushed Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football, snapping a three-game losing skid. Jason Garrett’s guys have defeated the divisional rival tonight in Arlington with 37-10, and earned the top spot on the NFC East standings.
The Cowboys were excellent and better than the rival in almost every category, and what is more important, they looked confident on the field. The mental stability was something they lacked over the previous few matches.
“We sure needed to get out here as a team, as an organization, we needed basically to demonstrate to the fans to ourselves and everybody that we are capable of playing a team like the Eagles,” said Jerry Jones the Cowboys’ owner.
Once again, everything revolved around Ezekiel Elliot. Zeke had 111 yards on 22 carries for a touchdown. He virtually ran over the second-best rushing defense in the league, posting his 4th 100+yards game of the season. Just to remind you, the Eagles are allowing 73 yards per game, while Cowboys had 189 tonight.
Meanwhile, the defensive team of the Cowboys was superb, and they stopped the Eagles offensively as just a few teams did over the past year. Carson Wentz not only threw an interception, but also fumbled the ball twice, and suffered three sacks for 23 negative yards. Eventually, the Eagles ended the night with just 168 passing yards in total 283.
“I feel like he got a statement today, and so we’re going to let him go sleep on it,” DE DeMarcus Lawrence told the media. Lawrence’s sack forced Wentz to fumble the football.
Philly had the first drive of the game, and everything seemed fine until Dallas Goedert made a fumble handing the possession over to the Cowboys. The hosts’ response to that was a touchdown.
The same scenario happened in the next few minutes. Eagles have the ball, then they make a fumble, while Cowboys take the possession and score. That trend was stopped on Philly’s third drive of the night when Goedert caught a 28-yard TD pass and decreased the home team’s lead to 14-7.

But that was pretty much it from the guests. From that moment on, it was Dallas who ran the show on the field of the AT&T Stadium. The hosts had three rushing touchdowns, and apart from Zeke’s, Dak Prescott and Tavon Austin managed to deliver one. Meanwhile, Blake Jarvin was the guy who scored through the air for the Cowboys.
Prescot ended the night with 239 yards a TD pass and an interception, and also added 30 yards on the ground. He broke Roger Staubach’s franchise record of 20 rushing TDs. Amari Cooper was as always superb having 5 catches for 106 yards.
Wentz threw for 191 yards 16 of 26, for one score and a pick. Goedert posted 69 yards through the ar, while Alshon Jeffrey had just 38 in two recaptions.
Eagles head coach Doug Pedersen wasn’t happy at all following the game.
“Quite honestly, after a game like this, we all have to kind step back and look into the mirror, especially myself, it starts with me,” he said.
Things in the NFC East are changed now. Dallas leads the way with four wins and three losses, while Philadelphia sits behind them with 3-4. The New York Giants have 2-5, and the Washington Redskins sit dead last with 1-6.
Up next, the Cowboys are visiting the New York Giants in the Big Apple. That will be one of the defining games for the entire season for Dallas. First, they have a week off and then a Monday Night Football game at the MetLife Stadium.
It is basically the same for the Eagles regarding the importance of the game. Pedersen’s boys head for Buffalo to meet the fired-up Bills who are 5-1 at the moment.
