Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot apparently aren’t afraid of the COVID-19 virus as they allegedly threw a house party last weekend.
According to the sources close to several media, it seems that Prescott organized a birthday party for his friend previous Friday, and violated guidelines provided by the authorities. It is something that pretty much infuriated the public who is dealing with all sorts of consequences caused by the pandemic.
“I think they’re certainly aware now of how sensitive these situations are,” executive vice president Stephen Jones said. “I don’t think you’ll be seeing that any more. They’re certainly guys we have the utmost respect for and I certainly know they understand the sensitivity of the situation we’re in today. It’s certainly very serious, and something that we know and certainly know they understand.”

The incident took place Friday afternoon. The police got a call to visit Prescott’s house in Prosper, because of an alleged big party. However, once they got there, there was no evidence about the same, and they didn’t take any actions but only reminded Cowboys’ player about current advices and rules regarding Coronavirus prevention.
Now, some other sources are suggesting that more than 30 people were at Prescott’s house at the moment when police arrived, but there are no proofs for those claims. Later that night, there was another party at his place, but this time there were only 10 people.
This is not the first time for the Cowboys’ quarterback to attract the anger of the public in a recent couple of days. He would post photos on social media with his current and former teammates after the workouts. That wouldn’t be a problem if there weren’t showing violations of guidelines, such as no social distancing.
Also, some of Dallas’ fans were pretty upset because he trained with Dez Bryant.
Prescott is currently negotiating with the Cowboys about his new contract. At first, the two sides couldn’t reach an agreement, which is why the organization placed an exclusive franchise tag on him. If they don’t succeed in working out a deal soon enough, he will probably play under a tag and receive $26.8 million for the upcoming campaign.
The problem for Prescott is the length of the contract. The Cowboys are offering a five-year deal, while on the other side, the player wants a bit shorter period. There are tactical reasons for his request, because he wants to become a free agent after the new television deal between the NFL and the sports networks is struck. That will pump an enormous amount of money in the league, and the salary cap would increase, making it possible for free agents at that time to sign blockbusting deals.
It is obvious that the pressure on the 26-year old is very high. Ever since he landed in Arlington, his moves were closely monitored. Prescott, a fourth-round pick, shined in his rookie season, becoming a Pro Bowl selection and an Offensive Rookie of the Year.
He and Elliot would lead the Cowboys to the playoffs where they lost to Green Bay in the Divisional Round. Two years later, they were stopped by the Rams at the same stage, after a tough battle. And when everybody expected to see the rise of Jerry Jones’ franchise, the 2019 season was a disaster with 8 wins and losses each.
Prescott is the only big name in the team without a new contract. Elliot and Amari Cooper solved their status, and that might be what increases the tension with No.4. We’ll see the reaction of the organization’s on this last incident is, and would there be some punishment.
