Cristiano Ronaldo officially joined the Saudi Arabian team, Al Nasr, signing the biggest-ever soccer contract in history. Per various sources, he will receive $175 million for two seasons, which is by far the most lucrative deal ever made.
The saga surrounding Ronaldo was finally finished yesterday when both the player and the team announced that the deal was through. Reportedly, Ronaldo passed all the medical exams this Friday afternoon in Madrid, where he spent time and trained lately. After that, the two parties would sign an agreement, and Ronaldo will be coming to Saudi Arabia soon.
“This is more than history in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves.” the club stated on its Instagram page.

Rudy Garcia will lead Cristiano in the next two years, which is very important for the Portuguese. Garcia has experience working in top European teams, such as AS Roma, Lille, and Lyon.
Cristiano will have a few known faces in his team as well, like the Colombian goalkeeper, David Ospina, who spent one part of his career at Arsenal and Napoli. He, too, arrived this year in Saudi Arabia. Vincent Aboubakar, the former Porto and Besiktas striker, is already at the club for the past year, the same as another former Besiktas and Benfica member, Talisca. The former Brazilian national team member, Luiz Gustavo, is another big star in this team. Gustavo appeared for Bayern Munich, Marseille, and Fenerbahce.
It seems that Al Nassr intends to become a major player not only in Saudi Arabia but on Asian soil. They have nine Saudi titles, the last in 2019, six King Cup trophies, and three Saudi Crown Prince Cups. Al Nassr was even the Asian Cup Winners’ Cup champion in 1998 and the Asian Super Cup winner.
We need to understand that this club isn’t even the most successful team in the country, let alone the continent. But with Ronaldo coming to town, we might see this organization’s meteoric rise.

With all due respect to Al Nassr, the Portuguese’s quality exceeds their current standards and is at a different level. Ronaldo could have easily played in any of the top five leagues in Europe and not only be on the roster but be a leader of a title contender. He committed a big mistake by getting back to Manchester United, which was in the process of rebuilding, experiencing various issues on and off the pitch.
In the end, Ronaldo was a scapegoat, accused of all the problems among the Red Devils, despite him not playing games and being moved aside by the head coach Erik Ten Hag. The Dutchman was building authority by humiliating Ronaldo on several occasions before the Portuguese finally spoke against it, demanding to leave the club. Just to remind you, Ronaldo wanted to go during the summer, but the team stopped his transfer.
After that came the failure in the World Cup. The Portugual selection finished the adventure in the quarterfinals, with Ronaldo left outside the starting lineup in the knockout stage games. Portugal was eliminated by Morroco 1-0, failing to once again do something notable despite having a fantastic roster.
